Z&B Episode 3: Convent Handyman Part 2

Part 2

[interior small room, head to knees] Buff climbs up the stairs and enters the room, naked but for his boots. He carries his toolbox and has a plain towel slung over his shoulder, just barely revealing the tattoo over his heart of the symbol of a handyman. A young nun smiles at him and hands him his rolled-up coveralls. He sets down his toolbox and trades the towel for his coveralls. He unrolls them and starts to don them but is interrupted. A second young nun holds up a clock-radio blinking 12 o'clock. Buff hands the coveralls back to the first nun and takes the clock. He starts to press the various buttons quickly. He looks at the nun. She reaches up and pulls a drone from out of the air hovering above her. She presses a button on it, and shows him that the current time is 11:24AM. He returns the clock, now showing the correct time.
[Pan across beutiful stained glass window]
[head to chest] The zoot twins are impressed by what they see. She takes a photo. A young nun taps her on the shoulder. [zoom out] The nun indicates a cannister with the international symbol for no smoking.
[head and shoulders] The Zoot twins look at each other. Both happily spit the cigarettes out of their mouths.
[closeup] The cigarettes fall into the cannister and bounce back out.
[return] The twins both catch the cigarettes in their mouths.
[closeup] The nun humorously disapproves of the nautiness.
[return] The twins spit out the cigarettes again.
[cloceup] This time they fall and stay in the cannister.
[closeup] The nun approves.
[wide side view] The young nun leads the Zoot twins into a darkened church with colorful light filtering in from the sunny day outside.
[heads to knees] They meet the older Mother Superior awaiting them, with a gentle glow about her. Everyone happily bows to everyone else in greeting. The Mother Superior reaches in the air and takes a hoverbot and turns a dial on it to signal the church lights to light.
[wide view] <Organ music plays> Lights light up the dark room in sequence. [zoom in] On one candelabra chandelier high above the center aisle, one light fails to light. <sad music - wah wah>
[faces] Mother Superior and Zoot are disappointed. She turns the dial back.
[wide view] Lights start to go out in reverse order.
[closeup] She turns the dial forward again.
[return] Lights light in sequence. <Beautiful organ pipe music> Except that one fails. <sad music - wah wah>
[face] Mother Superior looks at the hoverbot closely.
[closeup] Mother Superior's finger clicks a button labeled, "REPLACE".
[head to knees] The hoverbot flies away. Buff arrives, signing an autograph for a nun, who is still holding his coveralls. The young nun introduces him to the Mother Superior, who is glad to see him, ignoring his nudity. The hoverbot returns with a spare bulb and base. Mother Superior takes the new bulb. The hoverbot flies upward.
[candelabra side view] The hoverbot flies up to the light and bumps the burned-out bulb. It does not budge. It tries again. No dice. Third time. Still no effect.
[wide view down from above] Below, Buff and the Zoot twins and all are pointing up at it and talking about the light. Female Zoot has an idea. She walks offscreen.
[side, head to toe] She walks to the nearest wall and pulls two blue disks from her suit pockets. The blue disks stick to her hands and to the wall. She spiderclimbs a few steps up the wall and turns to look at the others.
[PoV looking back down at the others] All are impressed, except Male Zoot who elbow-pokes at Buff. Buff looks at him, agrees, and approaches Female Zoot.
[return] She comes down and hands Buff the two pads. He is impressed how well they stick to his palms. She peels two blue disks off of her pants knees, crouches down, and sticks them to Buff's knees. He appreciates it. She is thankful too. She steps back, gesturing to the wall, and gives him room to work. Buff spiderclimbs up the wall.
[wide view from above] All watch him, a bit concerned.
[side view, following] He spiderclimbs along the ceiling to the chain. He leaves the two blue disks he held in his palms stuck to the ceiling and holds the chandelier chain with both hands. He pulls his knees free, with the other two blue patches still stuck to his knees, and awkwardly catches the chain between his legs, wrapping them around it. Wobbling, he slowly slides down the chain, descending toward the chandelier.
[wide, from above] All below have a sort of pained expression while watching him.
[crane view, camera circles the chandelier chain] The chandelier rocks and the camera circles. The ground looks far away. Buff successfully makes the climb down to the chandelier, and carefully twists and turns upright without stepping on any of the light fixtures.
[wide, from above] All below are worried.
[side view] Buff has crouched down to reach the burned out bulb. He pulls it. It doesn't budge. He repositions himself and tries again. With a strong pull, it pops loose. He is surprised by the sudden release and falls back a bit. The chandelier rocks and starts to spin. The burned bulb falls.
[from above] All below are more worried. Male Zoot catches the falling bulb. Mother Superior tosses the hoverbot up with the replacement bulb. [follow] It flies up and hovers next to the turning chandelier.
[continuous, follow Buff, shaky cam] Buff sees the world rocking and spining slowly. The hovering hoverbot appears to be circling around him. He is a bit seasick. He reaches for the hoverbot and misses. He tries again when it comes around again and catches the replacement bulb.
[steady] He is relieved to be almost done. He sticks the new bulb to its spot on the chandelier. He stands and tries to steady the rocking and rolling but only helps a little. He shuts his eyes to not see it all.
[Down below] All are happy a second, then wonder. Mother Superior reaches for her remote control again.
[closeup] Mother Superior turns the dial back again.
[wide view] The lights go out in reverse sequence.
[closeup] She turns the dial forward again.
[wide view] The lights all turn on in sequence. <same pipe organ music> including the last bulb working fine. < happy fanfare>
[from above] All below smile and wave thanks upward.
[From below] Buff is worried looking down, but tries to smile and wave as if he is happy and successful.
[closeup] His expression turns to worry again as he looks up and starts to climb the chain.
[from above] All below are very worried as they watch.
[side view, head to toe] Buff has the two blue patches on his knees. He shimmies up the chain. He reaches the top of the chain. He reaches a hand to touch one of the blue patches stuck to the ceiling, but the chain swings, and he startles. He tries again and slaps his palm onto the patch and it sticks. [rotate around to follow] He releases his legs from the chain and swings by one hand. He misses slapping the other patch in the ceiling with his other hand. He winces in pain, suspending himself by one wrist and swinging gently.
[from above] All below gasp.
[return] He successfully slaps his other hand on the other patch and quickly moves it to a slightly more comfortable spot on the ceiling. He takes a few deep breaths.
[from above] Below all are only slightly comforted. Zoots look at each other then back at Buff.
[return] Buff takes another deep breath then crunches his stomach and tries to lift his knees to the ceiling. He can't. He tries just one. He can't get it to stick, even swinging.
[from above] Below, all are worried again. Zoots wave their arms to him and then wave one finger at him.
[head to chest] Buff looks down, sweating and breathing heavily and very worried now. He sees them down there. He nods. [zoom out] He swings his legs to the chain and grabs it. He releases his hands, one hand with the blue patch, and the other without it. [follow] The chain allows him to turn upside down, holding on only with his legs. With effort, he grabs ahold of the chain with his hands and pulls himself upright.
[head to thigh] Female Zoot steps away from the others (steps into view from offscreen), looks up, and pulls up her belt buckle, which extends on a thin cable.
[closeup] The buckle in her hand unfolds a propeller which starts to spin. It lifts off. [follow] The drone on a cable lifts up above Zoot, passes the chandelier, passes Buff, and sticks to the blue patch on the ceiling, stopping the propeller.
[closeup] Buff looks at the drone, then looks down at Zoot.
[from above] Below, Zoot presses a button on her belt causing the cable to retract and lift her. (She holds one hand high on the cable for balance.)
[heads to waists] Everyone else watch Zoot slowly ascend.
[Side view, Head to waist, tracking and rotating] Slowly spinning and slightly rocking, Zoot rises higher, past the chandelier, beside the chain, and up to sweaty Buff, whose arms and legs are shaking now.
[closeup] She smiles at Buff.
[closeup] He smiles at her, relieved and tired.
[head to waist] They reach for each other and hug. Buff let's go of the chain. They swing and spin wildly one turn until someone's foot hits the chain and stops their rotation.
[closeup] They smile at each other, faces very close. <beep> Their faces start to descend.
[from above] Below, all worried faces relax a bit and smile. Male Zoot gives a thumbs up signal and a peace symbol, smiling.
[head to waist, tracking] They descend beside the chain, past the chandelier, this time not fearful of the height, looking at each other. They reach the ground and clumsily find their footing, surrounded by the onlookers. [zoom out slightly] They separate and stand side by side. Buff is standing fully erect now. Female Zoot gives him a quick kiss on the lips. <smack> They both smile. All start to applaud.
[closeup] Mother superior looks Buff up and down, then looks left and right at the Zoots. She smiles knowingly and makes a heart symbol with both hands. (Little hearts float in the air like blowing bubbles.)
[closeup and slowly zoom out] Male Zoot notices Mother Superior. He looks Buff up and down. He glances at his sister. He raps Buff lightly on the shoulder. When Buff looks at him, he waves at Buff head to toe then points to his sister (who is sharing happiness with the nuns). Buff looks at her (with love in his eyes), looks back at his friend, looks down and blushes, then nods to answer Zoot's question in the affirmative. Zoot faux-punches his friend in the shoulder playfully with approval.
[head to waist] Female Zoot signals everyone to step back. She looks up. All look up.
[closeup] The blue patch releases from the ceiling and the little drone falls.
[closeup belt] The cable retracts quickly, and the blue patch and buckle drone are pulled to Zoot's belt buckle again. She pulls off the blue patch and pockets it.
[head to waist] All applaud. Buff gives her a side hug, leaning his head toward hers. (Large transluscent hearts drift up behind them.)
[head to chest] A nun taps another, draws her attention to Buff and Female Zoot, and makes the heart symbolwith her hands on her chest. The other nun agrees and does the same symbol. (More phantasmal hearts float around like bubbles.)
[Dolly back to wide view] The church chapel is lit beautifully now. <happy church pipe organ music> Are are happy and laughing. Buff and Zoot hug deeply. Some of the nuns jump for joy.
[fade to black]
