Millwind Settlement in Atelier | World Anvil

Millwind

Millwind is a Forgen river village that serves as a rest stop between the Forgen Capital Mine and Bifork for travelling merchants and miners looking to sell their wares.

Demographics

Millwind is a largely dwarven settlement, though it contains a few elves from Leafroll and humans from Equiny. The inhabitants are almost exclusively millers, with the exception of a small blacksmiths' guild that works the raw ore coming from the Forgen Capital Mine.

Government

Millwind has a mayor designated by the Forgen Central Council, who has total control over the governance of the village (within Forgen's bilaws, of course). Usually, the Forgen Central Council would not personally establish such a low-ranking official, but due to Millwind's location and its use as a tolling station for miners coming from the Forgen Capital Mine, the Forgen Central Council wanted to be sure that everything was handled to their specifications. Taxes don't collect themselves, after all.

Defences

Millwind has few defenses other than palisades that offer light protection from wild animals and wandering bandits. It's distance from the border and lack of material resources makes it an unlikely target for any invading force, though it does have some strategic importance as a trade stop along the Forge River.

Industry & Trade

Millwind is almost exclusively dependent on collecting taxes from miners and milling the wheat from the surrounding farmlands. It has no industry outside of a small blacksmiths' guild and few resources of its own to trade. Most of the milled wheat is sold to the state for distribution around the kingdom.

Guilds and Factions

Millwind contains a small blacksmiths' guild that works some of the ore coming from the Capital Mine, but none of the smiths are capable of reforging adamantine like in the larger Forgen cities.

Geography

Millwind sits on an open plains near the Forge River, surrounded on all sides by farmland.

Natural Resources

One thing Millwind has in abundance is grain, which is mostly sold to the state.
