Baldwin Hayward

Baldwin Hayward was a knight peregrinate from Windfarm operating at the time of Augustin's Rebellion. During the war, he fought against soldiers from both sides in defense of the commoners who saw their homes and livelihoods destroyed by the conflict. Known as the Knight of the Doleful Aspect, he became a legend in his own time, seemingly popping up out of nowhere wherever a wrong was being committed. Whether this was due to the use of strong magic, the actions of imitators, or simply an exaggeration in the history books is debated by scholars. Either way he became feared, and respected to a degree, by soldiers on both sides of the war. He was eventually killed by Arideian troops after a valiant last stand in which he took shelter in a windmill, single-handedly facing down nearly a hundred men and killing many who attempted to enter the windmill before the soldiers set it on fire. 
After his death, a group of knights peregrinate inspired by his deeds joined together to form the Order of the Doleful Aspect, selecting the windmill as their seal.
