Goblin Campaign

A little Background...

In the southwest central region of Nûrdæn, deep in the Dragon’s Run Mountain range is a massive mountain/dormant volcano known as Mount Something. This great mountain is divided into two territories, the west side is home to the (Neifendor) Gnomes and the (Ficksya or Blastya or Implod…I can’t decide) Goblins on the east side. A specific name could never be agreed upon so Mount Something stuck.

Mount Something lies between the White Plains to the east and to the west, the Kingdoms of Eranor and Valmore, Lands of the Defiled and the Sorrow Wood. To the south is the trade kingdom of Eysen’s Gate, the controlling city-state or kingdom of Dagathur’s Pass. Also, to the south is the continents Magocracy seat of power, Arcanum of Blackmoon and the elven nation of Athyndalia. North is the expanse of the Dragon’s Run Mountains that continues to the Kingdom of Blackmere.

The Goblins of Mount Something are quite different from other goblin species of the rest of the world. They are more intelligent and craftier than their wilder kin, yet they are still very impulsive and careless.

Both the Goblins and Gnomes of Mount Something are ingenious builders and crafters and as a collective have a penchant for creating wonderous things. Goblins like to see things catch fire or explode. Gnomes are aloof, cut corners and careless. Their inventions and creations can be quite ingenious and spectacular but often fail and on occasion in a big way. With the goblins, if something explodes or catches fire, they will usually claim that it was intentional.

These two cities are very competitive rivals yet maintain a relatively amicable relationship. They haven’t had an open war in at least a couple of decades.

The Goblins territory is made up of many clans that shift and change on a relatively regular basis and are ruled by King Bigund Firecrank.

Goblins clans don’t usually grow to large sizes primarily due to catastrophes of their own making. Many of the clans will often merge with others. There is always the desire to be the biggest and best clan.

The Gnomes are Ruled by High Sparklord Gilgafron Niflnigle.

Although they are polytheistic and have a variety of dieties that they favor, both Goblins and Gnome hold the god Niggonglor in the highest regard as the great creator also known as the Great Inventor or the Mechanic.

In the Heart of Mount Something is their most sacred of places, shared by both Gnomes and Goblins. The Halls of the Creator. Here their most valued artifact of Niggonglor resides. To the Goblins this is called the Shine Core, to the Gnomes the Creation Core. Annually they both gather in the Halls of the Creator for a festival where during this one time out of the year they will exchange ideas, openly trade and compete in a variety of competitions. (The big one “think Battlebots”)

Both Goblins and Gnomes of Mount Something tend to not interact much with the peoples outside of the mountain. Goblins most of all since there is quite the stigma against “goblins” as a whole.

They, both Goblins and Gnomes, used to have good trade relations in Eysen’s Gate some fifty years ago. But, there was an incident and they both were violently driven out.

Neither Goblin nor Gnome have returned until now!

You are part of the Dog Bone Clan. Your clan leader is Big Mama.

Your clan was one of the bigger clans (14) but recently suffered a loss of half their number.

Big Mamma who is an intimidating leader (and a really good singer) has called you all to perform a great job for clan Dogbone. She explains “A goblin (allegedly) has stolen an important symbol to both the Goblins and the Gnomes. The Shine Core!” Big Mamma has made a deal (she makes good deals) with King Bigund Firecrank. Big Mamma tells you. “You will go out into the world, find and return the Shine Core. We will get the Deepburn Clan and this will make new friendship with gnomes and bring great glory (and shinnies) to the Dog Bone Clan.

This has presented an opportunity. So, she has also tasked you all to establish good relations with the outside world.

It is assumed that the thief would head to Eysen’s gate first. It is also assumed that you will not be the only ones looking for the thief and the Shine Core!

You all decided you are going out to start out by heading to Eysen’s Gate and trying to be Bounty Hunter’s as a way to build your renown.

When you arrived, you quickly found that the city is definitely a racist place. At least towards you.
