Xymor, the Alatum (zI-more)

The Alatum Xymor (a.k.a. Bahamut (ba-HA-mut), the Platinum Dragon, King of the Good Dragons, Lord of the North Wind)

Bahamut, revered by good dragons, is stern and disapproving of evil, but kind and helpful to the downtrodden and dispossessed. He teaches his followers to strive against evil wherever they can, and to help others become strong enough to resist evil by themselves. He appears as a long, sinuous dragon with platinum scales and catlike eyes of shifting colors.

Holy Prayers

Many of Bahamut’s proverbs take the form “To [action] is [assessment].” For example, “To oversleep is folly,” or “To smite evil is laudable.”

Holy Rites

Bahamut’s worshipers often celebrate believers who enter some new stage in their life: starting a business venture, becoming a soldier, getting married, and so forth.

Rite of Rebirth

Twice a year, during the Summer and Winter Solstice, followers perform this ritual. In it, good-aligned non-draconic humanoids are reborn into dragonborn. This is one of the few processes outside of wizard creation that dragonborn are known to enter the world. The ritual is still arcane, further linking the dragonkind to the arcane powers.

Dogma

Bahamut is stern and very disapproving of evil. He brooks no excuses for evil acts. In spite of this, he is among the most compassionate beings in the multiverse. He has limitless empathy for the downtrodden, the dispossessed, and the helpless. He urges his followers to promote the cause of good, but prefers to let beings fight their own battles when they can. To Bahamut, it is better to offer information, healing, or a (temporary) safe refuge rather than to take others’ burdens upon oneself.   Bahamut is served by seven great gold wyrms that often accompany him.

Clergy

Bahamut accepts only good clerics. Clerics of Bahamut, be they dragons, half-dragons, or other beings attracted to Bahamut’s philosophy, strive to take constant but subtle action on behalf of good, intervening wherever they are needed but trying to do as little harm as possible in the process.   Many gold, silver, and brass dragons maintain simple shrines to Bahamut in their lairs, usually nothing more elaborate than Bahamut’s symbol scribed on a wall.   Bahamut’s chief foe is Tiamat, and this enmity is reflected in their worshipers. His allies include @Heironeous, Moradin, Yondalla, and other lawful good deities.

Clerical Training

Most of Bahamut's clergy are dragons or those of dragonblood, but Bahamut’s few nondragon clerics learn the Platinum Dragon’s teachings at the foot of a dragon, usually an older gold or silver dragon in humanoid form. The relationship is one of teacher and student, with the duo typically traveling to see the effects of injustice and cruelty firsthand. In the homeland of dragons, Veluntia, ancient dragons still teach the innitatied and the annoyted in the ways of the Platinum Dragon.

Talons of Justice

The Talons are an order of dragon paladins dedicated to Bahamut that followed the Pitarian Code. No one knows exactly how many Talons there are, but the group probably numbers in the scores. Group members spread throughout the world, many living in human and demi human form in cities and towns of other races.

Temples

Temples to Bahamut are almost all shrines within the current or former lairs of dragons. They’re good places to go to ask about ancient lore or get something translated from Draconic—but they’re often in remote, forbidding places. When your fellow worshipers are all dragons, you needn’t bother with elaborate temple defenses

Worshipers

The majority of bahamut’s worshipers are metallic dragons. While he is revered by all good dragons, gold, silver, and brass dragons hold him in high regard.

Origin of the Name

Bahamut is the only platinum dragon known to most non-dragon scholars, and they believe he is a unique type of dragon. Even so, those scholars are wrong about this - Bahamut is actually unique among his kind for the fact that he has wings. Bahamut is the name the elven scholars gave to the Draconic deity known as Xymor to the Draconic pantheon. The elves believe that the title of Xymor or Bahamut is a title given to the only platinum dragon with wings, as there can only be one according to these scholars.
"Plating the Ankhanmara bones in silver helps to quiet the auditory hallucinations… oh bearer mine."

Aspect of Bahamut

The Platinum Dragon, King of the Good Dragons, Lord of the North - creatures honor Bahamut with all these titles and more. First among good dragons and most powerful of the good dragon deities, Bahamut is a sterling force for what is good and just in the world. Nevertheless, Bahamut rarely sends an aspect to aid his worshipers, allowing them to express their virtue by meeting evil's challenges on their own. Typically, an aspect of Bahamut appears only when the fate of many good dragons is at stake, and then only when another evil deity, such as Tiamat, has thrown in on one side of the conflict.   This long, sinuous dragon is covered in silver-white scales that sparkle and gleam with a light all their own. Its catlike eyes shift between the blue of an azure sky and the chill color of a frozen glacier, as its mood determines.

Strategies and Tactics

An aspect of Bahamut begins combat by breathing on foes. It then charges and bites the enemy who seems most wounded by the attack. Thereafter, it makes full attacks as it can until its breath weapon recharges, then uses its Tempest Breath feat to knock down Medium foes and blow away smaller enemies. If necessary, an aspect of Bahamut starts the cone within its space to catch several adjacent foes.

Ecology

An aspect of Bahamut doesn't contribute to the ecology of an area because it rarely remains there for longer than a few days. If it stays longer for some reason, the aspect retains a true dragon's ability to go for long periods without food and survive on minerals alone if necessary.

Environment

Bahamut's aspect appears wherever his worshiper's need it greatest.

Typical Physical Characteristics

An aspect of Bahamut appears as a long, sinuous dragon covered in silver-white scales that sparkle and gleam even in the dimmest light. Some describe the aspect's catlike eyes as the color of a midsummer sky, while others insist that they're a frosty indigo, like the heart of a glacier. Perhaps the two merely reflect the Platinum Dragon's shifting moods.

Society

An aspect of Bahamut acts in all ways as the deity would, garnering the same respect and reverence as if Bahamut himself had appeared. Although all good dragons pay homage to Bahamut, gold silver, and brass dragons hold him in particularly high regard.   An aspect of Bahamut brooks no excuses for evil acts. In spite of this, it can be among the most compassionate beings in the multiverse, showing limitless empathy for the downtrodden, the dispossessed, and the helpless. The aspect urges Bahamut's followers to promote the cause of good, but it prefers to let them fight their own battles whenever possible. To Bahamut, it is better to offer information, healing or safe refuge, than to carry other's burdens directly.   Clerics of Bahamut whether dragons, half-dragons, or other beings attracted to Bahamut's philosophy, strive to take constant but stable action on behalf of good, intervening wherever they are needed but trying to do as little harm as possible in the process. Many gold, silver, and brass dragons maintain simple shrines to Bahamut in their lairs, usually nothing more elaborate than Bahamut's symbol scribed on a wall.

Typical Treasure

Despite its draconic nature, an aspect of Bahamut does not typically carry or hoard treasure. On exceedingly rare occasions, it might be tasked with carrying a particularly potent item to one of Bahamut's most fervent worshipers, or it might guard the treasure of a more powerful good dragon that went on a mission for the deity.

Lore of the Aspect

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (religion) can learn more about aspects of Bahamut. When a character makes a skill check, the following lore is revealed, including the information from lower DCs.
