sXLVII: To Slay the Dragon! Again!
General Summary
Day 1 - 4th, Lamashan (month 10) 4126 - Khundurkar, Mountain Door Entrance Camp
- After spending a couple hours re-exploring the lower areas of the Stone Tooth Peak, the party returned to camp with Anduril(Surveyor) now possessing a suit of animated armor he made in life before death.
- Brining with them a barrel of debris, Nerrida, Ervin, and Wakeley created a pressurized keg bomb with black powder and an actual navy issue black powder bomb curtesy of Jeremy .
- Wakeley slept outside the entrance with Jeremy and Ervin , outside the Crystallizer of Dreams AOE, and had normal dreams for the first time in 4 days.
- Waking early in the morning, the party had breakfast, making sure to be as quite as possible, to not wake the beast below.
- Heading down to the Forge level around 6:30am, the party suspended the barrel from the ceiling via rope, and set up two hunting traps in the great hall of the forge.
- The party enacted their plan around 8am, Ervin and Wakeley , as well as a magically disguised Nerrida, and Davros, the 4 began speaking loudly in Dwarvish while starting up all 4 forges. It took about 2 hours, and the loss of one forge, before the party was able to wake the beast, and enrage it with the speech of the dwarfs.
- Fleeing the forge back to the great hall, the party waiting in ambush for the black dragon from below, Nightscale.
- Successful in their battle, the party killed the young black dragon, collapsing the stone doors of the Forge of Fury, trapping the dragon in the great hall.
- Afterwards the party spent several hours harvesting various parts of the dragon, from scales, young black dragon hide, black dragon fangs, and black dragon teeth, as well as both of its wings courtesy of Jeremy.
- While Jeremy and Ervin harvested the beast Nightscale, the rest of the party headed to the The Black Lake below, and found a small island in the center of the lake. Here was where the dragon kept his hoard of carefully sorted coins in 5 distinct piles of coloration. Each pile has a depression on the top and sides, suggesting the dragon spent much time slumbering, moving from pile to pile. It is unknown how much treasure is at the bottom of the lake, as it was left largely unexplored.
- This day was largely spent by the party sorting and moving vast quantities of money and other valuables looted from the island at the center of the The Black Lake.
- Around late afternoon is when Giorno discovered the bones of of a long dead dwarf. Bringing the bones to the forges for burial, Davros decided to place the bones neatly on the throne of the great hall instead. On a whim, he though the bones belonged to the forgemaster himself, Durgeddin Stonehammer, the Black, builder of this ancient dwarven citadel. Correct, Davros was met with the spirit of Durgeddin Stonehammer and the party was thanked for their efforts against the dragon menace.
- Upon bringing the forgemaster's bones to the forges, the party began to hear pops from other rooms. This was quickly discovered to be the shrine room of the citadel, where the dragon built shrine/tomb to a chained god of destruction, was instead revealed to be a desecrated grave of a long lost pelorian. It is unknown who this particular person was, but the item he grasped was no mistake. Drawing the blade from its scabbard, Giorno confirmed his suspicions, and upon seeing the blade, all recognized it as Durindana.
- After leaving Hrodel's Tower the party encountered Kai Riften travel back from Hookerhill and an adventure. Fresh with supplies and new scars of battle that he wears proudly, he and the party split ways after a quick catching up, finding out that he wasn't going anywhere for about a week if not longer, but eventually will return to the adventurer's guildhouse at Hookerhill, looking for the next paying job.
- After 3 nights of travel, the party arrived back in New Orlanes.
- Davros commissions a panel and mounting of the severed head of the black dragon Nightscale, with plans to gift it to King Geoffry IV of the Gran Dutchy of Geoff.
