Kasumi Brightfang
With only a rare exception joined to her tribe by marriage, all of its members are pure blood kitsunes. Mostly isolationist and self-sufficient, the tribe calls a sheltered grove deep in the Nightshade Wilds home. Generations of skilled tree weavers have used their magic to turn the Great trees of their grove into a comfortable shared living space.
It was there on the day of first snow that Kasumi was born, the youngest and smallest of her Five siblings, she learned early to eat quickly and scrounge for herself to make up the difference. Lacking the strength to compete with her brothers, she had to use tricks and misdirection to have a chance of keeping up. As she grew that keen sense for pranks may have led her into trouble with the older members of the tribe, if she had not picked up her mothers skill as dissembling and used it to blame her brothers that is.
As with all of her tribe when they came of age at 20, Kasumi and her siblings were blindfolded and walked to the edge of the tribe's range and told not to return for at least two full years. Known as the Time of Proving, it is the Tribes method of not getting stuck in their ways as their young learn their calling and the skills of outsiders. On their return, The Proven share what they learn with the tribe's other adults so all can benefit from their experience.
Thats where she is now, leaving her sheltered isolation to find out what the wider world is like.
