The Passing of Yaanshidd

The Passing of Yaanshidd is honored annually on the day of The Celestial Calamity to mourn the passing of Yaanshiid and the comet Krio colided with the moon, Yaanshidd, splitting it in two. While the day is widely acknowledge, the perception varies greatly.   For the people of the Zantyran mainland, it is a day of mourning. On that day, they lost their guardians, the Velpir and the great city of Velpraxa. Their passing brought unrest and violence to the once peaceful lands and darkness to the sky.  The Desmodon of the Archipeligo see the day as a somber reason to celebrate. While the moon was destroyed, it's light extinguished forever, the comet brought shards of Yaanshidd with it to the surface. The shards led to the rise of the Desmodon empire and the reise of their civilization as well as bringing them in contact with the mainland.  Within the chambers, neither the Praetorim nor the Molochorr knew anything of Yaanshidd. The comet's arrival, however did bring great power to the Molochorr and freed both races from the prison of the Abyssal Chambers.

Execution

The gathering begins at dusk on the anniversary of the celestial calamity and ends three days later, at dawn, on the anniversary of the death of Velpraxa.

Observance

Hovering Archipelago: As time has passed, the Aurien Beetle nests of the archipeligo have become the preferred destination to gather with the archipeligo with Desmodan, Draíochta, Damor'lych alike making the pilgrimage to watch the light show that enshrouds the island. During this time an array of ceremonies and racaus parties can be observed depending on the culture one belongs to.
The grounds around the nest are considered sacred to all races and fighting on the grounds. If any fighting does break out, the drio guard will remove the offenders, banning them from entering the sight in the future.  Many Desmodon petitioned for mandatory death sentences for offenders, but were eventually outvoted on spritual and philosophical grounds.
