The Hollowing- Condition Condition in Astraeus Zephyrus | World Anvil

The Hollowing- Condition

"The Hollowed are nothing that should be taken lightly Shaman Rytuk'nuk! They are dangerous, ruthless, and most importantly they will stop at nothing to fulfill the mission of their master!" Grand Shaman Sah'ramin slammed her scaled claw against the large pentagon table, her violet coat whipped behind her while the Venomous trails along her knuckles glowed a subtle green.   "You assume that they are like an endless horde, forever growing and consuming, Sah'ramin, nothing more, nothing less. Why should we see them as the same?" Grand Shaman Rytuk'nuk sat in his large stone throne with his meaty arms crossed.   "You've not seen them like I have then Rytuk'nuk. I've seen whole circles of our Psychic shamans whipped with their own brethren due to this Hollowing. So please tell me Rytuk'nuk, was Se'heal's death in vein? Everytime I see a group of Hollowed march on, my brother is always there looking at me with his gaunt vacant mind. If you think that this is no horde threat then you are gravely mistaken." Silence draped the room from the mention of Sah'ramin's brother, Grand Shaman Se'heal, "I didn't take his seat because of his death, I took his seat because I wanted to make sure none of the other Sseth'kal in this empire would be affected by it."   "Please as much as I'd love tolisten to you two bicker about whose right or wrong. I do have things to do and consider this Elemental Court counsel abjorned!" High Magus Zaziel broke the silence with a quick snap of his clawed.

Transmission & Vectors

The only way how the Hollowing is transmitted is from extended use of the Psyche Venomous Sorccery, where the user extends their Venom to enhance their Psyche. This intern allows for other sources to interfere and like the name of the corruption is called and, Hollow the Sseth'kal user.   This then leaves the Hollowed Sseth'kal is left under the control of an unknown entity called the Defiler, using them like puppets for its unholy war.

Causes

The Hollowing thrives off of the mental ability of the Sseth'kal, feeding off of it like a parasite until there is nothing left to feed on. Long term exposure of the Psyche element for Venomous Sorccery only attracts the Defiler, who already has its sight on the Sseth'kal homeworld, Tor'khan.

Symptoms

The Hollowing is made of two symptoms: Forgetting, Aggression, and Blackouts.

Symptom one: Forgetting

The first symptom of the Hollowing is forgetting. This comes in the form of memory gaps, numbness in limbs, and finally violent mood swings.

Symptom two: Aggression

The second symptom of the Hollowing is aggression. Aggression comes in only two forms: Aggravated behavior and fits of rage.

Symptom three: Blackouts

The third and final symptom of the Hollowing is Blackouts. Periods in time when the Sseth'kal forgets they did anything, remember anything. During this time the Sseth'kal has no recollection of what they did, or who they did it to.

Treatment

There is no other treatment for preventing the Hollowing until the Sseth'kal is Hollowed. The only way of preventing it is by excluding the use of the Psyche Element of Venomous Sorccery.

History

Scholars still debate when the Hollowing first came into Tor'khan. Some say it was already here while others say that it came when the Mad King, Kor'tacktu's use of the Psyche element forced the Sseth'kal slaves to build Jewelshire.
"This all started with the Mad King and it didn't end when he died at the Scaled Queen's hands." A Berus Sseth'kal in a brown and tattered cloak shouted from a crowd.   "Bullshit rock for brains, we all know the real reason why the Hollowing has stayed! And it's because of your Clutch's incompetent warriors!" A Horridus Sseth'kal gathered small balls of fire in their hands, the rattle on their tail shook vigorously.   "You wanna say that again Sand-blood!" The Berus pounded his fists sharpening its claws into harden metal.

Cultural Reception

All the Sseth'kal fear the Hollowing for it is an illness that once you get Hollowed, you are forever Hollowed. The Empire finds this as a threat but not a major one for their forces to deal with. Only the Elemental Court is working to stop it, try to find a cure of it.   Society of the Sseth'kal finds Hollowed something to fear most, for it is their loved ones beyond recollection! Even the Scaled Queen has banned use of the Psyche Element. But some of the Sseth'kal have continued to use it for their divination capabilities. Only the Grand Shaman Sah'ramin is the only Sseth'kal to use the Psyche Venomous Sorccery for she is the most cautious of its extended use.
