Dwarves

For untold ages, the Dwarves of Asteria have made their home below the peaks of its lands. Wether it be in the great hall of the highest peaks, or the smokey tunnels of meadow hills, the stout people hollow out their homes in search of riches, fame and adventure.   The most important of every dwarfs life is heritage, what has come before and what you will leave behind. Your worth is not measured only by what you do in your life, but how long it will last after your gone. Wether it be the construction of great halls, the founding of an empire or a song that will be sung for hundreds of years does not matter. What matters is that you leave a legacy which the world can never forget.   A young dwarf will then search for their own way of leaving a mark on the world and set out to try and fulfill it. Most never do. Instead they return home with broken dreams and take up whatever job they can find to make their livelyhood. For these dwarves the natural heritage becomes family and their pride will have them working toward giving their children as good a start as possible in their future endeavours. If your own quest for greatness does not work out, then your name may instead be carried by your children.   But a few dwarves will be able to fullfill their dreams and leave a legacy that will stand for aeons. In so doing, they inspire the next generation to keep on trying. And so the wheels of the great halls will keep spinning.

Ecology and Habitats

Dwarves usually live in hills or mountain into which they have dug elaborate halls, spreading deep into the ground below. All expansion of the homes is made deeper into the earth, as that is where they look to find more riches.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Due to lack of sunlight the dwarves are limited in what vegetables they can produce. As such their diets consist of meats, mushrooms, roots, cheeses and other things that can be made without sunlight.   Dwarven settlements also cultivate the roofs of their halls with plants that stretch into the surface, or trade with others to attain vegetables that require sunlight. As such, these things are seen as delicacies and fetch a high price in any dwarves city.
