The Veiled Salon

No one seeks out an invitation to the Veiled Salon because the general population doesn’t know that it exists. And those few who do know of it have no idea where to find the person who runs it. They aren’t about to ask either, seeing as that would expose their own operations. For the people who know about the Veiled Salon are part of Astaressa’s secret web of espionage, and they certainly don’t want to tip their hand. They want to expose the Veil without exposing themselves, but that has proven to be near impossible.

Structure

Pearls Very rarely are Pearls not already members of the Beautiful Court. The Veil knows each Pearl on a personal, intimate level, and therefore deems them worthy of becoming a member of the Salon. He summons them to a meeting by sending them a letter accompanied by a single pearl. This pearl becomes their symbol when trading information with other Pearls, the Diamonds, or the Ring.
Pearls are given a lot of trust by the Veil because of the nature of what they do. They go out into the world and mingle with those of their station (low, middle, upper), gathering information that no one else could possibly hope of gleaning. They are the eyes and ears of the Veil, and all of this intimate knowledge has helped put the Veil ahead of the rest in the race to gather information amongst the espionage underground.
Diamonds The Diamonds were specially chosen by the Veil because he was already intimately familiar with both of them. These two also had a specific skill set that the Veil knew that he needed, but was unsure of how to get it. How convenient that two of his closest companions had the exact abilities he was looking for. After all, not all loose ends can be tied up through diplomacy or gentle blackmail. Sometimes loose ends have to be cut so they don’t fray and unravel the rest of the cord.
Serving as the Veil’s assassins, the Diamonds are some of the most feared in the espionage community. The Veil doesn’t often need to send them to do his bidding, but if he deems it necessary they show no mercy. The Diamonds are also used as his personal brute squad, gathering others to help arrange group attacks and other coordinated gambits. The Veil does not like to use brute force however, and will send a warning to intended targets with two diamonds enclosed to inform them that their time is at hand. If the warning is ignored, the Diamonds will strike. If the warning is heeded and demands are met or behaviors are changed, another letter is sent requesting that the diamonds from the warning be returned.
The Ring No one really knows where the Ring came from, only that she speaks for the Veil. Her word is the word of the Veil, unless she states otherwise. She is close to the Veil but does not seem to have the same physical intimacy as some of his other salon members. The two are rarely seen together outside of Salon gatherings, and she usually acts as his bodyguard when she is with him.
The Veil The king, the ringleader, the puppet-master. The Veil holds all the cards in his hand, knows where every string leads to. He never shows his hand, and deftly pulls and tugs at different strings to make things fall into place. No one knows his identity outside of his Salon, and no one has shared it. All are either too loyal to spill the truth, or are swiftly taken care of before they can do any damage to the web of secrecy he has woven for himself.

Public Agenda

This group is not known to the general public.  To those that do know of it, its aims are clear.  To gather as much information and intelligence as possible, to stay one step ahead of other intelligence groups, and to quietly influence the world in whatever way they could.
