Tyrachon (God)

Element: Water   Domains: Seas, Storms, and Beasts   Cleric Domain: Tempest Domain   Material: Bone, particularly that from great beasts like the leviathan of the seas or the teeth of predators. Coral is valued but only in the waters; removing it drains the color and curses the one that took it from Tyrachon's waters.

Summary

Awe-inspiring Tyrachon commands the fiercest aspects of Aspiria: the seas, the storms, and the beasts. The Tempest Lord may not always be depicted as the kindest or most approachable of the Divine, but He commands fear and respect across the continent regardless. Sailors have adopted Him as Patron of their profession, but all owe His Nets the proper tribute lest they suffer the Trident. Indeed if there is a member of the Divine to be vilified (cautiously) it might be Tyrachon, but this is culturally dependent. Indeed stories tend to agree that without His influence the storms and beasts would be even wilder.

Cultural Reception

Surprisingly in Carinthia Tyrachon is not vilified. For a land so beset by storm and beast, the blame falls squarely on the latter--that is to say, the beastly dragons who have thrown off the Tempest Lord's rule. They are a strong people after all, and even the mercilessness of the snowy climate cannot make them buckle. It is possible there is a kinship seen in Tyrachon, but official worship belongs to Alophia in the furthest reaches of the North.   Aqualonde lives with the Beasts of the Woods, and so hand in hand with Demeria their worship is given to Tyrachon. The Druids that follow the Tempest Lord mirror His ways as much as they might, living amongst the creatures in hopes that commune with the wildness of the woods will bring them closer to His might. This cultural offshoot--these wood elves--are shown a measure of respect in the wooded kingdom despite their relative distance to the day-to-day of city culture.   Avosa Tevosa knows who holds their lives in His hands; the city on the cliffs is open to the beasts, the storms, and the sea, and so depending on each they venerate the Tempest Lord higher than all other Divinities. Indeed He does not tame His beasts, storms, and seas; so too do the Avosans not ask too much tameness of their people. It is a worship that values freedom and fierceness, perfect for that fierce and free people.   Tarwa'kem might be isolated from the seas, but Tyrachon is not limited to them. His storms ride the sands after all and His beasts are a threat even to this great city. In fact the might-makes-right, survival-of-the-fittest elements of His worship are right at home in Tarwa'kem, particularly in the capital where each is on the look out for the next step up, even if that be on the back of their brother.

In Art

Wild-haired Tyrachon is never without His Trident when depicted; like Alophia's tools the Trident is so strong a symbol as to be nearly synonymous with the Tempest Lord. He is shown as a powerful man with dark hair and beard, both of which are woven with shells and bones. Of all the Divine He is most often shown with animalistic features, whether that be replacing His legs with the tail of a shark or the tentacles of an octopus. Metaphorically Tyrachon may also be shown as a storm, and the greatest of windstorms are said to be His direct observance of the land (see the Eye of the Storm).
Trident's Reckoning by Elred Qinan
"In the depths of the ocean and the fury of storms, the true power of nature resides. Honor the untamedforces and beasts that dwell within, for they are a reflection of your own strength."
