Sunfire Abbey
Sunfire Abbeys provide the bulk of healing services - i.e. magical, mental and physical healthcare - for occupants across the elvish territories who can barter for their services. What they will accept in return for healing tends to vary from Abbey to Abbey - some will only accept coin, but most will be equally open to material possessions such as diamonds, food, other supplies. The offer of future services rendered can also be considered, for groups or trusted individuals with the right skillsets.
Depending on the size of the complex, they may also offer the equivalent of a modern day spa experience to nobles or important individuals, long term stays for those suffering with chronic disease or needing exterior supervision that their current carer can no longer provide, and curse breaking squads. Well staffed and large abbey complexes will service the healthcare needs of entire cities, can afford to send humanitarian aid missions to places in nearby villages and smaller townships that need it, and will provide space for those interested to study medicine. Some orphanages and hostels will also operate out of the Sunfire Abbey where they are present in a settlement, or at the very least depend on the local chapter of the Sunfire Order for the goods and personnel they need in order to function.
Clerics and healers who follow Sidrasil take the Sunfire Oath - swearing upon their fealty to the Dawn Bringer never to knowingly harm their charges, and never to allow those they heal to backslide into harmful situations.In keeping with the principle of the Sunfire Oath, sanctuary can always be claimed by simply going to the local Abbey and invoking it. At that point, an individual is understood to be under the protection of the priesthood at that Abbey. Depending on the political atmosphere and the strength of the Abbey's good standing in a community, this can even involve being shielded from the law - as long as the individual remains on the grounds of the Abbey complex - until such time as a proper arrest warrant is provided and the related Abbess or High Priest agrees to hand the person who requested sanctuary over to the resident authorities. Sunfire Abbeys are also rumoured to operate a witness protection program under the grounds of the Sunfire Oath, with the goal of protecting innocent people from domestic violence and vigilante (or criminally-motivated) retributive justice, but exactly how this is initiated and to what extents it operates is not generally made known to the public. As far as current understanding goes, this kind of protection is offered by recommendation only.
