Administrators Guild
the great hand that measures and guides the lives and resources of Austur
The Administrator Guild is the most influential guild under The Book of the Town, and one of the most, if not the most powerful guild in Austur.
Structure
Like most guilds, the internal hierarchies and power structures are not fully known to outsiders. Like all guilds however, the Administrators follow the general structure of seeker > applicant > entrant > apprentice > member > journeyman > master > grandmaster > leader. The trials, sub-hierarchies, qualities, and other details are not known.
History
The creation of the Administrators Guild was commissioned by the Landen Council in the mid second century after the Sunder. As the city had expanded to such a degree, and the responsibilities of the council had grown so much, important decisions and plans were being made that not only weren't in sync with each other, but often contradicted or even conflicted. With the number of professional guilds growing and expanding, it was decided that a formal body was needed to train, organise, and formalise the administration of the government independently of the councillors and their support staff.
Education
The Administrators Guild works closely with other related Town guilds to aid in their own training. The Scholars, Librarians, and Historians guilds all work closely with and cross train with each other. Though the details are of course not official, it is said that the eduation and training of an administrator is one of the longest and most thorough of any guild. It can commonly take decades for an administrator to reach Journeyman rank within the guild. Why this should be the case is unknown, but while administrator marks are a sign of respect to any Austurian, it is not uncommon to see one of the admin in their 40s and even 50s, still with their shaved scalps barely tattooed past the crown of their head.
Political Influence & Intrigue
While officially and outwardly, the guild is dedicated purely to Austur's organization, management, and efficiency, unofficially the guild is also heavily political and chaotic. Their members are responsible for settling disputes between other guilds, allocating resources within and between provinces, and even delegating the priorities and deployment of the Mageguard. More than half of The Council Curiya in Austur's history have been from the Administrators Guild.
Their power and influence is staggering.
The only part of Austurian life over which they have no direct power, and only limited influence, is the Sita Alorum. The Uma have total independance written in to the Austur Declaration itself, and the Maitr can even make demands and calls on the Administrators Guild for resources or support on a whim.
