Founding
Ashton Creek was founded on May 15th, 1882
Amos Ashton had already purchased the land and brought in settlers. These arrived on May 12th, though the official founding was only held three days later, on May 15th, 1882.
Ashton was already a wealthy, though somewhat eccentric industrialist who sought to exploit the local mineral and timber resources. This he did, soon opening a lumber mill. The first building constructed in Ashton Creek was the old Ashton Manner to the north of Timber Lake, which was followed by a number of settler homes though these no longer stand.
