Smithson Operations

Smithson Operations is a large, multinational mining company, headquartered in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was founded in the late 1800s, by a wealthy and ambitious businessman named James Smithson, and it quickly grew to become one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry. In 1909, Smithson Operations acquired the Ashton Creek Mining Company, which included its properties in Ashton Creek.

In the early 1980s, disaster struck the mine, when a cave-in occurred, trapping a group of miners deep underground. In the aftermath of the disaster, the mine was closed down, and it has remained abandoned ever since. Today, Smithson Operations is a distant memory for ashton creek.
