The Senatrix of Bezela, Gerina Vici is a driven and ambitious woman of about 55 years. She has been Senatrix of Bezela for just over 5 years, following a meteoric rise in power from Public Sanitation Commissioner to the highest office in the city. Thought to be a weak and pliable compromise candidate, she quickly consolidated power and reformed the City Guard, battling the Greencloaks and Browncloaks for control of the city. With the aid of the group known as the Redcloaks, Senatrix Vici consolidated power in Bezela, purging the city of its rival factions. With the aristocrats killed in the power struggle, she diversified Bezela's assembly, setting the process for freer elections and divesting power from bloodline inheritance.
With the gangs destroyed, the new and more efficient city government was able to better distribute resources to the less well off. Trade began to pick up once more, with merchant guilds and foreign cities no longer worried about the spread of disease. Yet rumors swirl around the Senatrix, and some are suspicious of her lack of religiosity and neglect of the city's churches. There are even a few who would go as far as to suggest she holds heretical beliefs. All of that is irrelevant to the majority of the populace however, and the Senatrix enjoys an astronomical popularity from curing the city of its political and viral ills. It is likely she shall continue to rule for decades to come, and few are powerful enough to question her authority.
