Inquisitors of the Silent Grave

“We do not fear the dark, for we were born within it.”

The Inquisitors of the Silent Grave are the executioners of undeath and divine necromantic law. Formed as a militant branch of the Silent Death religion, they are the first to step foot into plague-ravaged ruins and the last to leave once silence has returned. Their task is not to protect the living or guide the dead — it is to end what lingers, and hunt what defies passage.

They are feared by necromancers, respected by priests, and welcomed only when things have already gone wrong.

Purpose & Doctrine:

  • Specialize in purging necrotics and rogue undead
  • Target violations of divine necromantic law, not mere magic
  • View Wraithborn as blessed, but unlicensed reanimation as heretical
  • Act on corruption only — accomplices are left for nations to judge

Structure:

  • Ranks determined by faith, experience, and undead control mastery
  • Advancement flows Sentinel → Inquisitor → Revenant
  • Governed by an internal Council of Priorities
  • Modern deployments focus on training and prevention, not war

Combat Style & Power:

  • Each Inquisitor may control multiple undead, vastly surpassing standard limits
  • Do not require permission to raise the dead, but do so cautiously
  • Work alone or as units; flexible depending on threat scale
  • Raise clean, silent undead forces — trained for control, not terror

Creed:

“We do not fear the dark, for we were born within it. We do not weep for the dead, for we protect their rest. We do not tremble at power, for our will is steel, our voice is truth, our blade is silence.”

Code of Conduct:

  1. Raise not for glory, only for need.
  2. Judge the corrupted, not the confused.
  3. Serve without praise, strike without hatred.
  4. Respect the soul, even in silence.
  5. Never speak for the dead — let the God of Silent Death do that.
  6. One soul lost unjustly is one soul lost forever.
