Twila was never intended for the throne, especially not by Ylais and Kysro, who had hoped her older brother would produce an heir and die an old man. Unfortunately, her brother died quite young after an awful illness swept the palace. Twila had also contracted the disease, but survived where her brother did not. Her later ascension to the throne was somewhat marred by this fact, but she soon quelled any fears of her people and led them into a brief golden age of trading and prosperity. She was particularly beloved by the southern Stolisi, who had a high Maiden population. A woman largely considered by historians to be her lover, known only as Morgana, was a Stolisi Maiden who served as one of her highest advisors. Many structures were built during her reign, and a few southern towns were greatly embellished. Such as the southern city of Kysra, which served as a major location between the southern mines and the western ports.
