The False Empress

Without the body of Eloise V, Fuyuko's ascension was largely considered to be illegitimate, despite Eloise having already declared her as her official successor. Fuyuko was never officially coronated as a result, and her status as Empress remained in question for many years after her death. She did, however, manage to arrange with Stolisia to return Eloise V's body to Divinice if it was ever found. Her status as Empress was granted to her posthumously and in an official context by her successor, Sunniva I, who performed a special ritual once Eloise V's body was finally recovered by [western] sailors.
