Tent

Tents come in a variety of sizes and shelter between one and 10 people. Two Small creatures fit where one Medium creature could, and one Large creature fits where two Medium creatures could. Packing up a tent takes half as long as assembling it.
  • A small tent holds one Medium creature and takes 20 minutes to assemble.
  • A medium tent holds two creatures and takes 30 minutes to assemble.
  • A large tent holds four creatures and takes 45 minutes to assemble.
  • A pavilion holds 10 creatures, takes 90 minutes to assemble, and a small fire can be set in the center.

Tents are used by travelers of all kinds to take shelter in the wild places of the world. They are generally portable and range from simple canvas affairs that fit a single person, to large pavilions of painted cloth of gold capable of holding many individuals, or a lord and all their comforts.    Dwarves often make use of leather tents, heavily treated to keep out the harsh elements that can be encountered in mountain heights and even survive hostile attentions of potential foes. While the smell of leather and oils might seem overpowering, none can deny the durability of dwarven made tents.    Elves prefer to shelter in the open when possible, but when conditions necessitate shelter, they make use of tents designed for the region they most often travel. They prefer tents of light and relatively open design that allow air in while hiding the sleeper from view and channeling water away. Only in colder climates do they prefer thick insulation.    Halflings also enjoy sleeping in the open when they can, but when forced to sleep under cover, they make use of brightly painted affairs covered in floral patterns and similar themes. Gnomish tents often feature small stoves for warmth, lanterns for light, and other small innovations.    Those who dwell in the mountains, the night woods, and the underdark often make use of a kind of hanging tent. In environments with precarious footing, or even vertical spaces beyond what could be conventionally traversed, hanging tents can be a point of stability and rest.
