Striped Mesosaur
The much smaller species of Mesosaur in the Jerulian Jungles. Opposite to the Grey Scale Mesosaur, they are posoinous as a defense for their smaller size. They mostly filter through the mud of the lakes in order to find different molkusc species, including the deep dwelling Noron Clams. As a consequence of their lifestyle they have archetypical teeth rows, which the indigenoous catfolk use for creating fish traps.
The Striped mesosaur has red and yellow bands all over its bodie, which hint at their poisonous nature. However, they only absorb the poison by eating the Noron Clams. The poison accumulates in special thorns on their skin that are barely visible between the different strips. This poison has been discovered to be potent for a number of magical uses, due to including minerals next to organic components. However, they are difficult to hunt, since the much more common Grey Scale Mesosaur in their juvenile form have very similar appearance. A well documented case of aposematism and its baitsian mimicry (bait mimicry).
