Barran Fang
Barran Fang was born in the catfolk village Nipan. He was best friends with the late Pride Tigres, who got assassinated.
Childhood and travel to Alt'Ena:
Barran would always get into trouble as a child. Trying to fight the bigger kids and being generally misbehaven. his father was a drunk and his mother emotionally absent. As a teenager he had enough of the rules from Nipan and went onwards to travel to Alt'Ena leaving his childhood love and his childhoodfriend (Pride Tigres) behind. He would almost never talk to his parents again but send his mother money when his father passed.Alt'Ena and recuitment into the guard.
In Alt'Ena Barran continued being a trouble maker. He lived in and for the street. Quickly gaining renown as a thief and starting to get attention of some better connected criminals. Subsequently, he got recruited into more complex guards not only for his skills as a thieve but also unbeknowst to him as a scapegoat. When one of these heists went downhill Barran got captured by the Griffon Guard. However, seeing an opportunity he escaped and caught one of the nearby griffons to flee. This was one of the griffons of the new recruits of the guards, but Barran still managed to control it thus showing incredible natural talent to ride these beasts. This was noted by the nearby Captain Howard. The very same Howard would swoop ontop of his griffon, Pacemaker, and go after Barran. The teenager catfolk did not stand a chance. He was captured again and brought to jail. However, there he was given a choice: "Either be the scapegoat to the criminals that abandoned him or train under the guiding hand of my [Captain Howard's] guidance to become a griffon guard and capture those assholes." Barran did have some morale in him left that made him hesistate. He did not want to become a traitor. But ultimately he took the Captain up on his offer and immediately started training. It did not take long for him to rise up to become a new recruit (altough some questioned his loyalty) and later on give payback to the street criminals that left him behind. During this time Captain Howard would become a father figure, that Barran only now acceoted he needed.Death of Pride Tigres
After the assassination of Pride, the Tigres family, Purr Tigres and her children including Cartan Tigres would seek refuge in Alt'Ena. Barran would during this time support them as much as he could. He would with the influence Captain Howard use some ressources of the guard to give the Tigres family a place to live. This was a start but would leave some unhappy colleagues that ultimately let to the Tigres family moving. Nevertheless, he would help them as much as he could and would regularly check up on them. These events also let to Barran trying to contact his old family. As it turns out when contacting his father had already been dead for over a year, a drunken accident, and his mother was left alone almost penniless. Barran used almost all of his money (including a secret stash from his criminal days) to help the Tigres faimily and his old mother.Confrontation with The Strangers
When Cartan Tigres would go back to Nipan as part of an expedition from his academy, Barran decided to accompany the son of his late friend. Organizing a scouting mission with one of his work friends (NAME HERE), he was able to do this trip rather spontaneously. He got a little weirded out with Cartan having a friend called Barran Timur, apparently this is a pattern for the Tigres, but otherwise the trip was peaceful. The griffon guad stayed back at Nipan for a while and he was able to attent to some unfinished business here, particularly concerning inhertiance (or the lack thereof) and taking care of his mother. He would meet and talk to many people, but would frequently be seen with a Mollusci called Saya Van, that appeared days later in Nipan. His colleague warned him about this contact, so Barran got more careful. He did not let on if he knew her from before. When The Strangers were going to be arriving soon, he got already word of them from Cartan and Maelis Sunfur. He knew what they were and went headon into an attack. Later claiming that he wanted to take them prison before they could reach the village, his colleague noted that this was a very reckless attack and way of protocol. Of course his work colleague was not informed that The Strangers were supposedly human, but still to those in the known Barran's action seemed dangerous. Whatever his motives were, Barran was able to capture The Strangers and subsequently brought them to Nipan. This
