The Pryfed or Thri-Keen in the common tongue, are insect-like beings which resemble giant ants. They are rare creatures and only live in colonies of their own. Because of this most of them are seen as just fairy tales to scare children. Thri-Keens are neutral but like to be on their own. Thus, they won’t trust trespassers on their territories. Thri-Keens live under the rule of the Queen. She is the largest of the Thri-Keens and is respected by all. All the rest of the inhabitants of the colony, live to praise her. When their queen is insulted or attacked, they will attack the assailant viciously and with no remorse. They collect the bones of those daring to attack the queen to scare of any others who might try.
Thri-Keens live underground in large tunnels, created for the colony. The center of the colony is where the queen resides. The other Thri-Keen all have their own small room where they sleep. The food is distributed equally, except for the queen who gets more because she has to bear the new Thri-Keen children.
The Thri-Keen are born from the eggs of the Queen. There is a separate room for the eggs where they are fertilized, and they are protected by a special breed of Thri-Keen soldiers. The eggs are prized above anything else; they are also really valuable if people want to sell them.
When a new Queen is born, all the Thri-Keen eat the current Queen. The new Queen will take the crown from the former Queen and lay a new generation of Thri-Keen.
