Goblin

Goblins are often very much misunderstood creatures. Yes, they are famous for stealing valuables from trading merchants and yes, they are rather fearful and weak. But Goblins can have a very special quality: inventiveness. They can create the most chaotic things imaginable, like bombs, traps and everything else.   It is said that Goblins are changed Erdians or Halflings. It doesn’t always need to happen to humans. It would explain their rather small size and why they live in holes in the ground. Most Goblins are holed up near villages and cities, where they can attack lone merchants on the road. Most of the time the Goblins are just part of a larger group who are led by a Hobgoblin or some other strong creature. Goblins are great minions, at least to do basic things. They are regarded as not having a lot of intelligence. Though this isn’t always the case. Goblins can be very intelligent but because of their lack of education this just doesn’t happen all too often. I sometimes happens that a Goblin becomes highly capable and the Goblins revere him as a Goblin-King. He gets all the food and redistributes it according to his whims. The Goblins living under his rule aren’t known to be very happy.   So, Goblins came from Erdians, but how exactly did that happen? Back when Erdians lived in isolated villages, there was this one village named Erdoan in the land of Yaren, that worshipped the Peion Yonan Fur, God of Hatred and Malice. They became so corrupted by their worship that they started sacrificing villagers to the God. More and more Erdians joined the village, saying that the time had come for the Erdians to claim power over the Humans. Then an individual visited Erdoan. He claimed to be an apostle of Yonan Fur. He needed the soul of a hundred Erdians, all to be slain on a full moon. As a return he would grant them the power of Yonan Fur himself. Eager to achieve all this power the Erdians complied and killed a hundred villagers in the name of the Peion. Peions are mostly regarded as evil but that doesn’t mean that they actually are. It was the individual who laid a curse on them. The Erdians transformed into Goblins. They became fearful and weak and were now doomed to be outcasts in society. But the curse affected all the Erdians. Only the village of Erdoan was transformed but it still happens from time to time that a Goblin is born from an Erdian. This is seen as the family having a curse upon them and that they displeased the gods.
