Demons
The foul demons are the abominations of the world. These are the humans who have been transformed as a punishment by the gods. Demons are always evil but were not always that way. A human might have been good in life but because a certain god or person didn’t like him, he might have been transformed in a demon. There are also demons that come from a different plane of existence. Demons might be in service of certain gods, mostly Peions or certain individuals, like evil conjurers.
There are many types of demons. Most of them are lesser, but there are those we consider as greater. These are the most dangerous of all the demons. The upper limit of the demons is named the demon lords. Most demons stem from these ancient entities. These are different than gods, but still immensely powerful. These demon lords only want to infect. They live in their respective plane of existence but are not limited like the gods to jump between planes, though it isn’t easy to do so. Because of this there haven’t been many times that a demon lord jumped between planes. The last time was in the Demon Crisis.
Demons have a typical hierarchy. As mentioned, the demon lords are the most powerful demons. Then there are ranks that demons can fulfill. Demons can climb those ranks, getting stronger with each rank until they might challenge their respective demon lord and when they win, they can take the throne of that demon lord becoming one themselves. With the victory over a demon lord, they now rule their own plane and can command their own demons.
But what are demons exactly? Well, they are transformed humanoids. With transformed, a better word might be corrupted. Unlike the Devil demons don’t make deals or contracts. They kidnap and slaughter. When children are being taken away in the night, it might be any creature with intelligence but if a demon gets them, the children don’t die. They are made a slave to the will of the demon who is only hungry for power. People are then either killed or tortured. When killed they are sent to the plane of the demon and resurrected there in a demonic form. That’s when the newly formed demon serves the demon lord. When one is tortured, one stays alive during the transformation. Pain and agony ensue as the demon tortures the victim until it becomes completely mad. Sometimes the victim is then released into the world only to inflict more pain unto it.
Lesser demons are not rational. They abide by their inner instincts which is mostly corrupting and killing. But (depending on which demon lord they serve) higher demons will have some sort of intelligence. They are capable of demonic speech. It is the same language that Tieflings use when talking to one another. It’s a harsh and coarse language with strong sounds. The higher demons thus have some rational, but multiple accounts have been written of demons losing their temper and going into an all-out rage. Beware of angering a demon.
