Altvallìn

The Altvallìn or High Elves in the Common tongue are the most pure subspecies of the Ellvallìn. They are embodied with magic and have a great affinity to it. They are peaceful and intelligent, giving council to other beings. Everything with magic entices them and they have studied the mystical arts for as long as they exist.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The same as the Elvallìn, only their skin is a yellowish beige. They are taller than most of the other elves. They are also more slenderly built.

Ecology and Habitats

The Altvallìn can survive pretty much everywhere as they are so adaptable to surroundings. They will mostly live in cities, where they can study the arts of magic. Some Altvallìn feel superior to the other races and live in secluded towns of only Altvallìn. There they practice magic away from the eyes of inferior creatures as they might not resist the temptation of using the powerful magic for evil, something the Altvallìn say they would never consider.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Altvallìn are nearly always vegetarian. They use magic to enhance the production of their crops. This way they don't need to eat any meat.

They have the ability of Darkvision in the range of 60 feet, which allows them to see in the dark.

Beauty Ideals

For the Altvallìn everything timeless is beauty. Art is for them something that can withstand the wither of time, something that will exist for eternity.

History

When the Elvallìn came to Arthenos, some groups split from them. Some went to the woods, some went to the snowy mountains. But the Elvallìn settled in cities and mingled with the other races. But after some time a conflict arose between two groups. One group thought they should live in harmony with the other races, while the other group thought they should rule over them as the other races were sheep compared to them and they should be the shepherds. The conflict grew and a war started. The one group in service of peace was lead by Valon Lumiël and they were called the Altvallìn or High Elves. The other group in service of domination was lead by Ondolomar Unduliën and they were called the Mrakvallìn or Dark Elves. The war ended in the Mrakvallìn retreating underground always planning their new attack on the surfaceworld. The Altvallìn then lived in peace for thousands of years, not seeing the Mrakvallìn except on small occasions that seem just a blink of an eye in the eyes of Elves. Yet the sense of superiority has returned to some of the Altvallìn and some small groups have settled in villages just inhabited by Altvallìn where they can experiment without fear.
