A Kinda Brief History Part 2
As moral grew and hope returned, four humans, exceptional beings, were born. Rodrii Tindalos, the most powerful Null ever recorded. Florentia Aevallon, the greatest Arcanist ever known. Balore' Mhieffman, one of the greatest researchers and scholars. And Duecell, the most relentless of all the dragon slayers. So much so that the dragons whispered of him for fear the "Dragon Ogre" would find them. Alongside them were Aevallon's sisterhood, Rodrii's Spooks and Dollmasters, and Duecell's own wife Charlotte. These people would shape the world for the next six thousand years.
Florentia Aevallon was the greatest Arcanist and would allege to hear magic itself. It whispered in her dreams and she could "see" its flow and forms. Regarded as imbalanced, she was ridiculed by the survivalist community. Her colleagues would stand up for her as would Balore', a mutual friend of hers and Rodrii. Father Rodrii was a logical minded spiritualist and monk of the, then primitive, Watchers. Nulls with power to survey and safeguard the land on a geographic scale. Duecell was Balore' and Rodrii's childhood friend, a giant of a man who seemed to smile only when he thought no one was watching. Except for Charlotte, who would have his smile whether she liked it or not. These four began gathering the disparate and disorganized peoples and would then begin the reclamation. Spreading outward from SahlHaven, they sought to take back their world and exercise their mortal birthright.
Rodrii traveled west, undeterred by the harsh terrain and inhospitable climates. The Null are masters of the physical world and such mountainous terrain is perfect for them, he claimed. With the hunting and war hounds leading the way, he began to retake the world. Florentia began the crusade in the East, lines and rows of horses with mystics and paladins astride laid waste to abominations. She followed another trail as the eastern expansion picked up speed. Each sought new advantages and each would contribute so much more than their respective founding. Rodrii began exploration of the Null's potential over telekinesis and how far their gifts to push the limits of the physical world. He projected his mind, what little soul he had, into the void beyond hte world and it was there he learned of and confirmed the existence of the Hounds of the Void. Once there he befriended one of the greatest of the Hounds and gave them his own name. In sharing his right to exist he formed the first compact with the Hounds and he taught other Nulls of sufficient power how to do the same. With these psionic beasts, more intelligent than mortal life and twice as voracious as any terrestrial beast, Tindalia was secured and founded in the West.
Lady Aevallon pushed east and claimed the coast, her people settling in the space that would be the capital of her newly founded country. While Rodrii sought power beyond the physical, she sought answers within the mystical. She followed the voices and visions into the north and found a vast lake with odd Arcanic properties. It was here she discovered the Fae, little motes of light, and her research began in earnest. She discovered the nature of the Faefolken and gathered them in great numbers and then greater still! When enough Fae Courts gathered she welcomed into the world the manifestation of Queen Mab, the aggregate sentience within magic itself and Aevallon established a solid and unwavering alliance with the magical beings. Queen Mab's arrival issued forth a massive global restructuring of Arcana. All mana founts were destroyed and the last few remaining dragons were annihilated by her will. With Queen Mab's arrival came the extinction of dragons.
As the dragon threat ended Duecell was left with time to aid his friend, Rodrii, directly. He was intrigued by the Hounds but thought the compact wasn't enough. The Hounds and their Null companions were effective, but they were only holding the line. He searched and experimented and devised a ritual that could bring the two psionic lifeforms, one mind and one body, together into a whole being. He was the first successful participant and became the ageless king of his own newly created kind. His wife, Charlotte, could not bear the thought of fading from his life as time marched on and in secret she performed the same ritual and became his eternal wife. Together with their own race of hybrid humanity they claimed their territory and joined the fight.
But what of Balore'? His contribution, and the discovery of the Satyrii and Lepaelii, would be the greatest of them all...
