The manifestations of the forces of reality, the elementals who come from the elemental ring are all unbridled representations of worldly power, however, some particular elementals have increased individuality and understanding, placed in a more distinct form of something living.
Physical Description: While most elemental forms vary greatly, representing a powerful force of nature itself, civilized elementals are nigh always humanoid in shape, often attempting to mimic a mortal race, or simply choosing a vaguely humanoid silhouette for some that are less bothered by sticking out. Due to bearing a humanoid shape, civilized elementals often forsake some freedoms and strengths that their more primal brethren possess, such as a wildly shifting form or lack of recognizable parts or visage, leaving them at the mercy of the physical attributes they choose to mimic. This is due to their greater sense of self often causing them to form a more powerful attachment to their physical appearance and what form is actually them compared to primal elementals who can simply bend their form at well with no personal attachment to it.

Society: Civilized elementals often can end up ostracized for their desire to mingle with mortals, those who dwell in the elemental planes often face outright persecution by the more aggressive and violent primal elementals who simply wish to fulfill their purpose and see their heightened awareness as a corruption, due to this, most elementals that can be considered a civilized being come from naturally occurring elemental regions within malbaar, where even primal elementals have some tolerance of mortals, or they can simply leave and avoid such problems.
Relations: While most elementals will refuse to interact with most mortals and even other outsiders, civilized elementals have no such qualms and often participate as if they were not a manifestation of an element. Though many mortals often have their own worries of dealing with certain elements due to their intrinsic danger they possess. Though some mortals enjoy dealing with civilized elementals due to them sharing the same mental weakness of their primal brethren, that most are often not the brightest.
Alignment and Religion: While most primal elementals are uncaring aspects of nature wishing to fulfill their purpose, and as such, often neutral, civilized elementals have no particular bias in regards to their alignments, similar to humans. More-so, despite their own further individuality, they often still worship the god that most represents their element, just like their primal counterparts.
Adventurers: As civilized elementals are often outsiders or particularly odd individuals, most often seek to leave their original place of origins, often ending up as adventurers unless they can find another role or job that fits their particular needs or handicaps. The roles an elemental could most easily take up in such adventuring parties heavily depends on their element.
Elementals differ heavily based on their element, such things determining their languages known, base speed, and other racial traits. There are eight true elements that pure elementals form from: Air, Earth, Fire, Ice, Lighting, Magma, Mud, and Water.
