Earth Elemental (ˈərth ˌe-lə-ˈmen-tᵊl)

Earth elementals are plodding, stubborn creatures made of living stone or earth. When utterly still, they can resemble a heap of stone or a small hill, but others desire to choose a recognizably human form.   Physical Description: When an earth elemental lumbers into action, its actual appearance can vary. Most primal earth elementals look like terrestrial animals made out of rock, earth, or even crystal, with glowing gemstones for eyes. Larger earth elementals often have a stony humanoid appearance. Bits of vegetation frequently grow in the soil that makes up parts of an earth elemental’s body. Civilized elementals often take to stonecarving and chiseling to better detail themselves and better visually mimic mortals they wish to interact with.

Society: Earth Elementals possess no particular society, mostly living as solitary creatures in most situations, commonly only interacting to trade precious stones they've come to hold within their being as a form of exchanging pleasantries, civilized earth elementals often pride themselves in having a notable unique connection of stones and rocks within their being.   Relations: Earth Elementals often avoid relations with mortal races, but sometimes form loose connections with races who live underground or near their dormain if necessary, while others might simply attack and drive people away, leaving some races such as dwarves or baulz far more weary of them then other races. Civilized earth elementals may often simply be confused for golems or magical statues of some kind, causing them to face some discrimination under the belief they are not an intelligent being, but a mindless construct.   Alignment and Religion: Earth Elementals have no particular bias or interest in getting involved with others normally, often being neutral, but have no particular restrictions that prevent them form being any other alignment. Moreso, as being of the earth, all pay due to the earth mother onchridite as their one true patron diety.   Adventurers: Earth Elementals often dislike having to be on the move and prefer to never move from one place their entire life, despite this, some civilized earth elementals do decide on the life of an adventurer if its desires require it. Those that end up in such parties end up being amazing warriors who do not go down easily, such as fighters or barbarians.

Standard Racial Traits

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: Earth Elementals are sturdy yet slow, yet like all elementals, are not the smartest. They gain +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Dexterity, and -4 Intelligence.
  • Type: Earth Elementals are Outsiders with the earth and elemental subtypes.
  • Size: Earth Elementals are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Base Speed: Earth Elementals have a base speed of 20 feet and a burrow speed of 20 feet.
  • Languages: Earth Elementals begin play speaking Terran. Earth Elementals with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic). See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
Feat and Skill Racial Traits
  • Brute Force: Earth Elementals receive Improved Bull Rush as a bonus feat at level 1.
Offense Racial Traits
  • Earth Mastery (Ex): Earth Elementals gain a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls if both it and its foe are touching the ground. If an opponent is airborne or waterborne, the earth elemental takes a –4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. These modifiers apply to bull rush and overrun maneuvers, whether the earth elemental is initiating or resisting these kinds of attacks.
  • Natural Attack: Earth Elementals gain a slam attack as primary natural attack that deal 1d8 points of damage.
Defense Racial Traits
  • Elemental Immunities: Earth Elementals are immune to bleed, non-magical paralysis, poison, and sleep effects.
  • Stone Skin: Earth Elementals are made of pure stone, granting them a +3 natural armor bonus.
Sense Racial Traits
  • Darkvision: Earth Elementals have darkvision and so can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
  • Tremorsense: Earth Elementals are sensitive to vibrations in the ground and can automatically pinpoint the location of anything that is in contact with the ground. They have Tremorsense with a range up to 60 feet.
Movement Racial Traits
  • Earth Glide (Ex): Earth elementals can pass through stone, dirt, or almost any other sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water. If protected against fire damage, it can even glide through lava. Its burrowing leaves behind no tunnel or hole, nor does it create any ripple or other sign of its presence. A move earth spell cast on an area containing a burrowing the earth elementals flings the elemental back 30 feet, stunning them for 1 round unless they succeed on a DC 15 Fortitude save.
