House Corvian
The House of Corvian
The world is full of harsh realities, and tyranny cannot stand. One should live by tangible achievement, lest you lose yourself to hubris like the villains you stand against. In our hearts, we seek modesty.
We have naught but our own actions, our own wills to guide us through our life. When the wills of many stand in harmony however, something more is achieved. Against tyranny, we chose community.
The dark is not evil, but what lies within. In efforts to save the innocent, we will tread whatever path we must. Against darkness, we arm ourselves with cunning.
Structure
Just like every house that is part of Astra Nova, House Corvian is overseen and headed by a teacher at the school and accomplished member of the faculty, who also functions as that specific houses homeroom teacher.
Underneath the Head of House is a singular esteemed student of the upper-class of that particular house, chosen by the Head themselves. This student leader is deemed as the "House Scion" and serve as role models, team leaders, mentors, and liaisons between the students and faculty.
The house is then made up of a student body of young initiate heroes who always meet first with their homeroom teacher in a large seminar style class before being released to attend the rest of the classes assigned to their pre-determined schedules.
Students are sometimes assigned to upkeep the House with cleaning tasks or other chores.

Public Agenda
House Corvian holds it's roots within the idea that being a hero requires not just renown or sheer power. It puts more stock into the idea that heroic acts are sometimes felt but not seen, and that those who enact them do not always need to be put on a pedestal to truly be considered a hero. Heroic acts are found more often than other houses in the small ways that Corvians help their allies and the innocent alike. By developing a keen intellect for heroism and learning the power cooperation truly provides, whether alone or with a group, House Corvian strives to face the worlds challenges and harsh realities in a way that keeps their hubris in check and keep them mindful of the world around them. Their three edicts, encouraged more regularly than any others are:
Guile - Students of House Corvian are taught not to fear the darker aspects of the world, but to understand and respect the limits of what is moral and what is not on both ends of the spectrum. They are taught how to by quick witted, cunning, and resourceful including the use of deceit, tricks, evasion, and unorthodox strategies. Corvian students try to embody what it means to walk in the dark and utilize normally dark things, turning them into tools to protect the light when in the hands of a wise hero.
Cooperation - House Corvian cherishes that togetherness of a community. The variety and benefits that a society of many different people bring to a population is a thing to be encouraged. Corvians are taught to respect differences in themselves and others, and to learn how to utilize facets of themselves and those they work with to improve upon their own rate of success.
Modesty - House Corvian students are encouraged not to act for the superficial fame some heroes delude themselves inside, but for the beneficial future it will bring to a world and the bona fide thanks they recieve from others. they willingly choose not to sugarcoat with esoteric or profound edicts. The enjoyment of being e hero is gained from seeing how your work, whether in the open or in the shadows, makes the lives of those around you better, and to get a pat on the backs you share between yourself and your thankful teammates who served alongside you. Many House Corvian students would agree that seeing a smile on the face of a young child reunited with her family is a much more enjoyable reward than a trophy statue embroidered with your name.

History
Corvian is the calling card of a mysterious figure that of which have their origins in Castlewood and throughout Evergarden, but would later become a realm wide symbol of anti-oppression and fair compensation to those demographics who did not have a voice in most spheres, as well as the impoverished or wrongly convicted, rich or poor. Never seen or caught, and such an enigma that their gender was never actually able to be confirmed, Corvian was always found by her work and the notes she left behind. There are people who have said they've had conversations in the night or heard the singing of a woman in the night, leading to urban depictions of Corvian as a female. The first accounted sighting of the mysterious figure was in Castlewood after a well known but unstoppable baron known for his cruelty was found dead with no signs of injury peacefully in his bed as if in a coffin, a green ribbon held in his grasp as his hands lay gently on his chest. Corvian would produce several more events within Castlewood and other areas, though most of them did not involve killing, making shows of their presence and exposing the actions individuals so they could face some sort of punishment. Eventually acts of Corvian were happening throughout Sonenheim, and sometimes within spans of time that almost seemed impossible for one person to accomplish. The biggest event Corvian ever did was known as the Night of Singing Crows, an event in which by delivering letters to hundreds of potential targets, Corvian decreed that those chosen must host parties of people within their home and play music with no charge for the duration of the night, and that any who did not would pay for it. It's believed most major cities had formidable amounts of participants, and whilst the amount of people who refused the order is unknown, it has become the topic of many songs and stories the night that all of Sonenheim was "alive with music at the din of midnight." Activity from Corvian had a sudden drop off after that night, and many speculate exactly why that is, but many still hold the figure up as a cultural spirit within low class districts as well as organizations that look to stand for the rights and well being of communities of smaller, more humble sizes.Full Story

Sonnungr "Lot's of the time they're loud and won't take no for an answer even if what they are about to do is stupid. It's not our place to stop them though. It adds a certain spice to life being around one I guess. When they get around to talking nonstop about what they've been doing lately and how cool they are, that's when we get uncomfortable. Not all of us want to hear about the latest crazy thing you just did, and showboating is a bad show. Have some dignity."
Mandalay "Seems like you swap interests every two seconds. You can't expect perfection because perfection doesn't exist, stop kidding yourself. It's admirable the work you do already though, and I'd be stupid not to commend you when you make something new, because it's always impressive. The fact you like to share your stuff around is an admirable call, even if it is sometimes used as an excuse to show off. We get it, but just like Sonnungr, don't expect us to be sitting there next to you shaking your hand after preaching to the whole school about how great you and your work is compared to everyone else."
Solos "You can't honestly expect to keep things in balance all the time. The world is built on unpredictability, and sooner or later, you're gonna have to deal with it full force. It doesn't look too good the way some of you carry yourselves as if you're way is the one true right way... And let's face it, we don't think so. You keep things in your place running smoothly sure, but the real world doesn't run on perfect plans, and they sure as hell rarely run on the same rules you theorize over in some made up hypothetical you run through."
Yotamo "Let's just face it, we both like friends, and you're nice friends, but a lot of you are gullible or naive, and are setting yourselves up for pain and betrayal by trying to take other's burdens onto yourself without any compensation. Nice people are the first to get abused unless they're nice and smart, let's be serious. We feel bad for your future selves, that's why we try to always pay you an eye for an eye. That's so freaking difficult to do with some of you though."
