Antares 9738 "Cargohulk" Retrofit

Designed in 9729AV and first released from drydock in 9738AV, the Antares 9738 was a civilian interstellar cargo vessel that typically operated within the Imperium Kentaurii. Nicknamed the "Cargohulk" for being fairly ugly both internally and externally compared to many other similar vessels on the market, it managed to gain some popularity for its practicality and cost effectiveness. This only lasted for a few decades, however, and the line was discontinued in 9772AV. Most of the vessels constructed were since scrapped, scuttled or destroyed by hostile forces and comet collisions.
In 10,063AV the newly formed Convict Mercanary Corps managed to purchase a number of surviving vessels on the cheap from a failing logistical transport company. These were swiftly retrofitted with up to date military grade equipment under the supervision of the Imperial Navy. The cargo bay was overhauled, stripping out the cargo racking, adding atmospheric pressurization systems and crypto-hibernation casket storage. The main crew quarters and shuttle bays were redesigned and split into separate crew and convict areas. The engines and reaction control blocks were replaced with more powerful thrusters. The warp core was updated. Torpedo tubes were bolted to the bow, and additional point defense turrets were added around the hull.
