The Glassy Lake
Unrippled and mirror-still, the Glassy Lake surrounds the great city of Glasrya. Loremasters say the great lake was formed where the Visitors' meteorite first struck Arr'ath, and raised their great city from the smouldering crater. The basin flooded, but the petrified waters stayed eerily still, some say in terror from it's new dread masters.
Some say the lake itself is a paradox — a mirror that reflects both truth and illusion. Tales say it's waters hold memories, forgotten magics, and glimpses of alternate places. Some say that those who stare too long into its depths lose their sanity or see their own demise.
On the surface, the lake is silent and still. The greatest winds barely stir it and the black Dragonships pass with barely a trace. Eerie mists roll over the mirror-like water. Legends tell of great fish and older terrors within it's depths, and mariners know not to traverse the glassy waters. The Imperial city forbids any trespass upon the lake, on pain of death.
