Storm-Maw

The Storm-Maw is the region at the southeastern end of the Tryvyum Sea where the sea passes between the southern end of Sonata and the northeastern end of Duva. The cloud storms that travel through the Tryvyum Sea are forced by the mountain range northwest of Ohedyn to go north into Sonata or pass over this relatively narrow passage between the two continents. Though these storms have mostly dissipated by the time they reach eastern end of the Tryvyum Sea, they can sometimes create pockets of inclinate weather when pushed up against the spare peaks in this region. Additionally, the currents and tides are unforgiving and unpredictable in this region, making sea travel more perilous than normal. Most vessels won't go anywhere near this part of the sea, venturing only as far east or south as Ohedyn, unless they intend to leave the Tryvyum Sea. Very few have been able to return to the sea after being caught in the currents of the Storm-Maw. Whether or not those that ventured into it made it out the other side is unknown. There are a few that have claimed to have done so, but stories of journeys beyond the known world are often given little credence.
