Thrain Blasthammer

Thrain Blasthammer is a mountain dwarf artificer from the dwarfhold of Kal-ein. Descended from a long line of master craftsmen, Thrain established himself as a master tinkerer and inventor over the course of the last 80 years. But the life of a guild artisan ill suited him, and he left for the Sydonian city of Dragonwatch in order to share his inventions with the world and help those in need as an adventurer.   Thrain was hired as protection on the first Sydonian steam train's maiden voyage to Brookstone. During the trip, the train was attacked by bandits. Thrain, alongside 3 other adventurers, fought them back using his artifice to assault the bandits and heal his allies' wounds. He disarmed explosives in the train's engine room and drove the train back to Dragonwatch after the conductor was killed.   Back in Dragonwatch, Thrain stayed with the heroes from the train and took on a job for the barrow boys clearing out giant vermin in the sewers.   After clearing out the sewers, the group encountered a knight of Baeldaeg named Eomer Lewin. After bumping into him, the knight fell into a muddy puddle and challenged Thrain to a duel over the ordeal. Thrain insulted him and tried to leave, but the knight pressed him further. Rasper suggested they send him on the quest to slay the Ettin in the kingswood. The knight readily accepted and departed immediately. Thrain and the group followed shortly thereafter, but found the knight dead when they arrived a the orc camp.   Following the battle with the Ettin, Thrain fashioned himself arcane armor from a set of chain mail he took from a dead hobgoblin. The armor greatly improved his combat prowess, allowing him to make attacks with thunder gauntlets and a lightning launcher from it.   Thrain continued to upgrade his armor using armor salvaged from slain enemies, and integrated more inventions into it (including a device to pull objects to him and launch them as projectiles). In the abandoned dwarfhold beneath Dragonwatch, he found an ancient set of Dwarven plate and was able to complete his armor with it.   On the road to Southport, Thrain sampled regional whiskeys in the various villages of Sydonia and gathered ingredients. While in Southport, he continued to work on brewing a hybrid elven-dwarven whiskey.   Before setting out to sea, Thrain fashioned a cloak that could grant him water breathing and faster swimming.   Thrain was petrified by a beholder in the Great Library of Mets Gradaran in the mistlands.
