Red Ring

The Red Ring is the name given to the council of 24 mages that apprenticed directly under the 12 members of The Conclave in The Alphacians government.
Each member of the Conclave traditionally took on 2 apprentices each to learn directly from them; as such these apprentices typically held high level positions within the different spheres of the Empire, often answering directly to their respective Conclave members or running facets of the sphere of influence all together. This network of influence and power in the Alphacian Empire came to be known as the Red Ring, and the positions therein were widely coveted.
