Lady Maven Dallywix was the appointed noble presiding over the Northern city of Highwall.
Before their appointment as nobles of the Crescent Empire, Bolvar and Maven Dallywix were successful adventurers, exploring many dangerous and lucrative places across Arkos. It was while partnering in adventuring that the Dallywixes fell in love and got married, as well as amassed their sizable fortune from all of the loot that they acquired from dungeoneering. It was because of their history of assisting civilians and knowledge they acquired in their travels that they were made nobles of the Crescent Empire's inner court. As with all adventures, the Dallywixes’ was not free of danger, as Bolvar lost his right eye, and Maven her left. The Dallywixes’ measured these losses as minor, however, compared to the experiences they had and their prestigious position as nobles of Highwall. Now that their adventuring days were more or less behind them, Bolvar and Maven wanted to try and have a child. What should have been a day of joy and celebration sooned turned tragic, however. Very early on, the Dallywixes’ child became severely ill. The very best Magisters, healers, and scholars gold could buy weren’t enough to save the child, and the Dallywixes’ had to say goodbye almost as soon as they had said hello.
The loss of their child hardened the Dallywixes’ hearts and affected them in different ways. For Bolvar, he viewed his child’s death as a cruel joke, an unlucky bid made by creation; he became obsessed with gambling and games of chance. He began to view everything not as right and wrong, but as fairness. For him, the only morality in an unfair world was chance. For Maven, she became more distant from her husband, silently blaming him for the tragedy that befell them. Part of her grief also made her much more promiscuous, secretly hoping that flings, or perhaps other people, could dull her pain. Together, they both wanted some semblance of answers, or justice for the wrong they felt had been done to them. When Lord Remnant, the Hand of Nex, first approached them, that is exactly what he offered them. Thus, Bolvar and Maven became members of the Dark Council, financing the Followers of Nexs’ operations. By the end, they hope to have a chance of getting their child back, or at the very least, have everyone on Arkos share their pain.
After confronting her in the Dallywix estate the Menagerie, and saving her from the realm of Necrosis, The Companions took her under their care. Through her insider knowledge and helpful contributions, she was able to redeem herself in the eyes of the party and many citizens of Crescentia. After the Battle of the New Dawn, she eventually found love with Stryder of the Companions, marrying him and sailing with him back to Kingdom of Shegoth. The two had twins, a boy named Jason and a girl named Tori.
