Emperor Lunin Crescentia II is the was the ruler of the Crescent Empire, and one of the youngest rulers to preside over the nation. While most in the empire regarded him with reverence and optimism, others believed him to be arrogant, self-centered and too inexperienced to lead the nation. Lunin was a strong advocate for an inclusive Empire, wanting to grant equal opportunity to the various races that inhabit its fertile lands. He was also known to be open to the idea of alliances with smaller communities and nations outside the Empire's jurisdiction. Oftentimes at odds with Lunin's decisions, while still supporting and mentoring him, was the previous head of the Imperial Legion Tirion Wintermere. During the beginning of The Kindling on Crescentia with the return of Nex to the Mortal Realm, Emperor Lunin sacrificed himself at Lake Torrin to allow his Crescentian Imperial Legion soldiers and The Companions to escape safely. According to eye witness reports, his last words were "For the Companions." After his sister Empress Alora Crescentia became leader of the nation in his stead, a memorial for all of the victims of The Kindling was constructed in Imperia's Court of Heroes, named Lunin's Rest in the late emperor's memory.
