Tiara Of Fire

Along the southeast coast of Anicarta is a little town named Micio. This town is known for the Tiara of Fire ceremony. This ceremony is to transfer all the apprentices from apprentices to tradesmen. This is not just the apprentices from Micio it is from every village and town along the southeast coast. This ceremony happens every year during the winter solstice. Because of this ceremony, the population of Micio doubles in size for two weeks. A week before the winter solstice is spent gathering, preparing, and making sure everyone has accommodations. Then the celebration takes two nights and one day. Then there is the cleaning up which finishes out the week.   The ceremony starts at sundown of the winter solstice and ends the after the next following night at dawn. As the sun sets fires are lit along the streets of Micio leading to the town’s center. In the town center, there is a bigger fire. Here is where the master of the ceremony, MC, calls each apprentice type. The apprentices gather according to their apprenticeship. Once this is done the MC continues to explain that there will be a final test for the apprentices the next day. The MC continues giving a very short speech about how pleased the masters were with the group. The MC ends with sending the apprentices into the town hall for the night. Inside they are to receive when their final test will be. There is food and beds for the apprentices to eat and rest. Once all the apprentices have left the town center and entered the Town Hall the MC continues. He tells the rest of those gathered where the food vendors will be throughout the town. Along with all the different dancing platforms, drinking spots, and games spread throughout the town. The apprentices play games, dance and eat until the MC comes in saying lights out. This is typically about halfway through the night. The rest of the town eats, plays, and dances the whole night away.   In the morning the apprentices are woke-up fed and then sent to their final test. These final tests are made up by the masters and are different each year. Some of the final tests are private but for the most part, they are public and people come to watch the apprentices. The fires lit the night before still burn. They will continue to burn until the next dawn unless an apprentice fails. In all of the history of the ceremony, there have been only two times that the fires have been put out. As the sunsets on the day, everyone comes back to the town center. The apprentices are congratulated and have a tiara of fire placed on their heads. Once this is done the town once again parties until dawn. As dawn approaches all the fires are put out. The next day and night are spent resting. The next four days are spent cleaning and returning Micio to its normal state until the next year.
