Sir Ja Myth in Aridida | World Anvil

Sir Ja

Sir Ja, Sir Ja are you done? One, two, three, four, five, Jeerer asleep, asleep, all perilously trapped. All perilously sat, Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, Falling, falling down. Crack, smack, oh no! Now sir Ja is done, no more, no more.   The children’s song called Sir Ja is popular in the town of Zinanillo. What most have either forgotten or do not know is that it is based on an event that happened many many many years ago.   This is what happened. At the well-known school Cithrel Salra, is a lecture arena. This arena was large with two main sitting areas. One on the floor and a second that was on a raised platform above those sitting on the floor. Many times a year guest speakers would come and give speeches to the students and townspeople. Now those that sat up on the platform ended up getting the name, Jeerers. This was because many of those that sat up there would make snide comments or throw things at the speaker. It did not happen each time but often enough for the name to stick. One other thing to note is that once the speaker had started none were allowed to leave until they were done. They had guards at the exits making sure that none broke this rule.    Now on to the tale. One day spring day a speaker came by the name of Sir Ja. The area was full including the platform. Sir Ja was a well-known speaker and was there to talk about the newly discovered monument nearby. However, Sir Ja was also known for being especially long-winded and loved to hear his own voice. This lecture was no different. By the one-hour mark, the jeers started but quickly faded when Sir Ja just continued on. By the time two hours had passed, several people noticed that there were several jeers asleep on the platform rail. Suddenly that rail failed and the sleeping jeers fell to their deaths also injuring several of those sitting below. Sir Ja immediately stopped speaking as he was in shock. Sir Ja went to the families of the dead and injured apologizing. Once he did that he was still so devastated that he never spoke again. Many tried to get him to do other lectures but he would only hand them papers or books to read. His wife said that Sir Ja only spoke in short sentences after the accident and only when necessary.
