Order of the Sun Organization in Arhor'ha | World Anvil

Order of the Sun

A monastic order of traveling monks providing martial assistance in a savage, unforgiving world. The main monastery exists in Sol but a majority of the monks travel in small bands providing assistance where they go. They contribute to the safety and overall spirtual health of Sol and, to a lesser extent, Verde.

Structure

The Order is led by a Grandmaster monk

Public Agenda

The world is a savage and harsh. Like the rays of a rising sun, the Order seeks to bring warmth and life to the world.  The Order has a strict neutrality policy in the politics of the city-states. Their interest is with the people, not the ruling class(es).

Assets

The order does not keep wealth. They accept donations and use the money to keep the order fed and equipped during travels. Excess funds, which is rare, go to adding defenses to settlements trying to found in Arhor'ha. They store relics of power they find during their journeys if the wisdom of the Grandmaster dictates no other path. They previously held the Book of Aries. They currently hold the book of Leo and it is hidden within the order's grand halls. Although humble in origins, they hold the largest buildings in Sol.

History

The Order of the Sun monks came from the Order of the White Flame, the zealous religious order from Elohim.  Solsera departed ways with the order after a mission to the Dawnforges. Instead of returning to Elohim she stayed in the small desert township of Sol. She found peace with the monks there and the monks found a warrior spirit in Solsera. Thus the warrior-monks of the Order of the Sun began to keep Sol safe from wasteland raids and harsh predators of the dunes.    The emblem of the Order of the Sun is similar to that of the White Flame, paying respects to the military strength of the elvish city, and they take this emblem with them as the Order now ventures beyond the borders of Sol-Verde and across Arhor'ha. The monks are well loved amongst the people that live in Arhor'ha as one of the few existing groups that provide security, sanction, and acceptance to any and all the come across.

Demography and Population

At any given time there are 7 to 10 groups of traveling Order groups in Arhor'ha. This represents a handful of seasoned monks along with initiates. Group sizes range from 3 to 12 but can swell to dozens if returning from a lengthy travel.   The order is home to near one hundred faithful in Sol.
