Underdark
Below the surface lies an expansive network of sprawling tunnels that open into massive caves. These caves are home to all sorts of plant and animal life that have adapted to the unique conditions below.
As the light of the sun does not reach through the dense rock of the earth, most of the Underdark is as dark as it gets. Those who were blessed by Edar to see even in true darkness can navigate the twisting passages without much issue, but those who can only see in light will have to supply their own.
This has led to various types of creatures and plants that will naturally emit light, the taming of which has allowed surface-dwellers to settle in the safer areas of the Underdark.
It is unknown how far the Underdark stretches, as its tunnels and caves seem to shift over time, often slowly, but sometimes roiling like waves and causing quakes on the surface. Due to its shifting nature, mapping the Underdark is a futile effort, but exploring it may offer treasures beyond your wildest imagination. The roil of the rock may expose veins of precious metals, create tunnels that allow for quick travel under difficult terrain, or even expose the ruins of swallowed cities.
The natives of the Underdark treat it as a living thing, and a temperamental thing at that, even worshipping it to attempt to calm the worst quakestorms.
