Burial Ritual - Hesjing
Followers of Hesjing believe that their souls will remain anchored to their bodies. Whether that means that the souls can leave the bodies, or remain inside the bodies is heavily debated, resulting in two different approaches to funeral rites.
One side believes that the bodies can be buried, or cremated, but must remain near any loved ones. This often results in a house having a shrine dedicated to deceased family members, housing urns and boxes for their ashes. The other believes that it is the duty of the living to protect the dead. This results in extravagant necropoleis being constructed in or underneath settlements.
