Argean Almanac

The Almanac is Argea's oldest, most prestigious, and trusted newspaper, boasting a daily readership of more than 20 million people. It is printed in every major city on the planet and tackles issues important to citizens such as business, corruption and crime, economics, health, literature, science, sports, style, as well as the standard world & local news.   The paper is owned and operated as a public company with its headquarters in Edmund's Bridge. It is considered to be one of Argea's most profitable and successful companies, second only to the Consortium International of Tradesmen (CIT). All this success comes despite the fact that the paper is regulated as a public utility in some areas. The Almanac operates large government relations bureaus in Korolevia, Funanori, Okkrgoth, and Estemar. Taking into account all of the paper's lobbyists, reporters, editors, executives, distributors, printers, etc., the paper employs more than 50,000 people. Each district in each realm has at least one reporter. Some of the more populous areas have their own bureau; a beehive of 100+ employees hyper-focused on the news of the local area. Of all the bureaus, Edmund's Bridge's is the largest with more than 1,000 people.   The CEO of Argean Almanac likes to claim that its stock is traded worldwide, although only two such clearinghouses exist at the moment.

Structure

Like most publicly traded companies, the Almanac is overseen by a Board of Directors but its day-to-day operations are orchestrated by its eccentric gnomish CEO, Nicryn Jemesis. Unlike other publicly traded companies, however, the King of Alandr and the CEO of the CIT do not sit on its Board of Directors. This is a hard-won privilege about which the company likes to boast.

Culture

While the company's official motto is "Information is Authority," its internal motto, painted on the interior walls of almost every building in the company's possession, is "Our Debt is to Truth." The company works hard to maintain the public's trust and wields its outsized influence in controlled realms to be able to print the truth rather than propagandized fiction.

Public Agenda

The Almanac works tirelessly to report the truth and employs Argea's finest investigative journalists (having invented the idea).
