Shining Guard

The Shining Guard (Old Havlic: Zɛindàruxio Etstɛtsɛ́io) were the elite guardians of the High Emperor. Especially chosen from only the top students of the military academies, they are trained from a young age to defend the Emperor at all costs.
The original Imperial Guard failed to defend Emperor Zendaruxos, leading to his death. In the early years of Emperor Ixosonipsa's reign he had all the remaining Guard executed for their ineptitude and established the Shining Guard to replace them. Implementing new rigorous training methods to ensure that the Guard will fight to the death and live for the Emperor, they are to remain by the Emperor's side at all times, always on the ready.

Composition

Manpower

The total amount of guardians fluctuates between around 15 and 20 men. At any given time there must be at least 10 guardians by the Emperor.

Equipment

New superior armour and weaponry were designed. The armour consists of a mail base with a full plate cuirass and plated leggings. Their weaponry consists of a long Havlian poleaxe with a short sword as a sidearm. All of the metal is embedded with brilliant silver and gold which serves as their namesake as the Shining Guard.

Training

When a military academy student is judged worthy he may be given the opportunity to become a Guardian. He will be transferred to the Guardian School in Tsilaio where he will spend the next twenty years training from dawn to dusk everyday.
