Pinsarii

The Pinsarii are an aquatic race known for their cruelty and brutality. Evolving from ancient predators of the deep they are native to the deepest parts of the trench network. They rise from the darkness to raid and hunt and pillage and very few have seen their homelands and returned to tell the tale. What is known of the Pinsarii is hard to decipher. With so many myths and legends about the extremity of their cruelty, few if the tales can be considered reliable in nature. The most reliable account was from the deep sea explorer Zeta Fortuna, who allegedly observed the Pinsarii from a distance for a period of several months and recorded notes on the matter into a manuscript known as "The Pinsarii Grove". In this manuscript she suggested a counter-narrative of the raiding cruel race, instead detailing a hyper aggressive species seeking to defend its lands from encroachment. The key feature of "The Pinsarii Grove" was an observation of a seemingly seasonal ritual where the Pinsarii summoned forth a demon in order to combat it, in what she interpreted as a symbolic slaying of the year that passed. This led many warlocks and demonologists to explore more arcane paths to find information on this enigmatic race. Other books that came after "Scrying The Grove" and "The Hell Trench" recount second hand information regarding the Pinsarii as gathered from summoned demons. According to these tomes the Pinsarii are an entirely demon worshiping race who have vowed to aid the demons in bringing upon the Ragnarok. The information in these tomes is considered heavily unreliable due to the source being known for its duplicity. The Pinsarii continue to be a mystery of the trench network, and few travelers who venture there will ever return. Yet another reason why sailors avoid La Rujue Ocean.
