Familiar Conduit

Magic and technology have been at odds for millennia, it took a very special mage to blend the two into this special item. His name was Gimble Folkor a brilliant inventor and an Artificer, who combined science and magic in all of his creations. First among his masterpieces was the Spirit Conduit. A combination of Phylactery and Warforged magic/tech. The Spirit Conduit is able to house the Spirit of an outsider in a mechanical body. This body is able to be adapted and improved and the outsiders spirit is able to control the body fully.
Augustus used this to house his own familiar a celestial wolf into the mechanical frame of a Dire Wolf. Later he would upgrade his familiars mechanical body to be a true terror on the battlefield.
This technology has since spread to all over Arelia but is still seen as "new trend" among the youth. Some of the older magi see it as a frivolous waste of magic due to its difficult nature to create. However many younger and wealthy individuals have turned to it instead of the usual familiar summoning.
