Visrite

A powerful and intensely valuable mineral mined out of the Orvyx and Shadowgate Mountains. Colloquially called Magic by the Four Great Satari Kingdoms, Visrite is a variety of stone that, when refined by experts called Conjurers, can yield diverse and incredibly power over the world around its user.   There are six kinds of Visrite. "The Six Magics" refers to the six disciplines associated with the study and use of these kinds of stone.   Red Visrite can wield power over water. It is often called Water Magic (and sometimes Blood Magic).

Gold Visrite can wield power over the air. It is often called Air Magic.

Violet Visrite has mild but controllable combustive properties. It is often called Lesser Fire.

Yellow Visrite is much more powerful than violet, but also far more dangerous. It is often called Greater Fire.

Green Visrite is perhaps the safest, and can be used to encourage plant growth. It is often called Lesser Earth or Lesser Stone.

Blue Visrite is used to strengthen bones and hides in animals, and sometimes to strengthen armor. It is often called Greater Earth or Greater Stone.   All six kinds of Visrite are extremely dangerous to handle, and even being around them can be deadly without proper precaution. Conjurers typically wear thick leather gloves and masks when working with Visrite, yet even so many older Conjurers will develop permanent purple stains on their hands and arms from mild exposure over the years.   Because of the danger involved, most of the mysteries of Visrite are still unknown. Experts tend to guard their discoveries carefully, hoping to profit off their unique knowledge by selling the fruits of their wisdom to powerful beylans or even the Khan of Zalja.   Control of the mines is jealously guarded in Zalja, and even the relatively peaceful Yaalk and Yena have established military forces to guard their own claims.
