Shoq Nodal
An ancient and nomadic people, the Shoq Nodal were among the first tribes conquered by the Viisianari during the Orckid Conquest. The two peoples had a shared ancestry, and indeed the Shoq Nodal are believed to have worshipped the Eight Winds, but ultimately nothing would gainsay the eastern expansion of the Orckid Empire. The Shoq Nodal are said to have had mounted warriors among their number, though what exactly they rode is unclear, as horses were supposedly not introduced into the region until at least the conquest of Ajman. Tales suggest the Shoq Nodal were adept and shepherding their people away from harm, and would use their mounted troops to mislead Orckid forces and even attack them from multiple directions. Despite all this, as ever, no one could stand against the Viisianari virtuosos.
Though their magic was extremely primitive, the Shoq Nodal did have a form of spelt communication. Their tellings suggest they were small in stature, as they refer to the Viisianari as giants. They appear to have fought with spear and javelin.
Most people erroneously assume the Shoq Nodal lived in the city now called Shoq, but as they were nomadic it is unlikely they had any such settlement. More likely, the city of Shoq was named to honor them after their conquest, as was the Orckid custom.
