Meinongism

"In the beginning, the Light was held sacred by our Ancestors. The Light traversed cross plains, sands, and through thick vine. Now the Light rests in the protection of the Meinong. The Guardians of the Light."
— Meinong Shishya

Structure

Deep within the Mei'nong Jungle, up winding paths towards Mt. Oka'uhane are three massive temple complexes dedicated to the secrets of white nura. There, gurus guard over the sacred light along with their shishya, skilled mages who instruct others in their ways.   Guru - One of three sacred guardians who reside within the temples of Meinong, they protect the sacred light of Lord Archae, Lord Dashnu, and Lord Genesii which are protected deep within each of their respective temples. These gurus teach on all manner of Meinong practices and thoughts.   Shishya - These attendents to the gurus are students of theirs as well, and learn much of the many deep secrets of Meinongism so that they may be passed on to future students. The shishya are responsible for temple maintenance, administration, and instructing acolytes. They wear the ceremonial garb of their rank.   Acolyte - Students, often young adventurers or wandering travelers, who come seeking the guidance of the gurus. They are permitted to live freely on temple grounds so long as they retain good relationships with their peers and adhere to the guidance of the gurus and shishya.

Culture

The widespread mythos and philosophies concerning the nature of energy and guardians to the secret of light and magic. Often associated with the desert and savannah crossing nomadic culture of Crystsands. A lot of artifacts and items used in this philosophy use an abundance of nura crysts, a glowing orb of nura found within the Aegispeak Mountains.

Public Agenda

The Guardians of Light hold the sacred duty of maintaining the magical pillars which run along the coursing river through the center of the jungle. These pillars produce powerful warding magics which inhibit the nura-rich natural environment of the Mein'ong Jungle and its mind bending time-space displacing affects.

History

This ancient order of temples was built far back in the Era of Light by nomadic travelers who settled along the banks of the Meinong River, carrying with them the divine artifacts of God King Arrliot. These artifacts were to be hidden from the Essebu who sought after them. They hid these artifacts deep within the temples they build along the heights of Mt. Oka'uhane.   There, three of their wisest men were chosen as the divine guardians of the Light, the first gurus. These gurus taught the secrets of the Light to their shishya, who shared their knowledge with students who made their way through the treachourous jungle. As more people started getting lost in the space-time bending affects of the jungle, they developed the Standing Stones, giant pillars built along the course of the river which would lead travelers through the jungle safely.   For thousands of years these temples have stood as sanctums of deep and ancient knowledge.

Cosmological Views

In the beginning, the Light was held sacred by our Ancestors. The Light traversed cross plains, sands, and through thick vine. Now the Light rests in the protection of the Meinong. The Guardians of the Light.   The Light exists within you, within me, and throughout all. The Light is in the trees, in the birds, in the people. The Light resides within the Mind. It cannot be accessed with the Body.   To aid our Ancestors, the Light divided itself into Three Avatars. Lord Archae, of Creation. Lord Dashnu, of Destruction. Lord Genesii, of Balance.   From the Avatars came the 999,000 Lessons, known as the Essebel. 333,000 Essebel of Creation. 333,000 Essebel of Destruction. 333,000 Essebel of Balance. These were known as the Dawn Times. When there was no Earth to stand upon, or Seas to sup upon.   The Essebel warred through the cosmos over the Light. Who was worthy of Understanding the Light? Should the Light be Used to Purge the Unworthy? Said Lord Dashnu. Should the Light be Used to Illuminate the Darkness? Said Lord Archae. Should the Light be Used to Enlighten the Soul? Said Lord Genesii.   Before they could Answer, our Ancestors retrieved the Light from the Essebel. No. Said the Ancestors. The Light Should be Truth. Said our Ancestors. And with them they awayed. Cross plains, sands, and through thick vine. Now the Light rests in the protection of the Meinong. The Guardians of the Light.   Thus the Dawn Times ended, and the Light Times began.

Tenets of Faith

  • Follow the will of Lord Archae, Lord Dashnu, and Lord Genesii.
  • To each his own Essebel. His own Path.
  • To do good deeds and acts of kindness is to accumulate the Nura.
  • To do injustice and injury upon another is to dispel and reject the Nura.
  • To each Essebel, a First Path, a Second Path, and a Third Path are all achievable.
  • To attain the First Path, one must Conquer the Ego.
  • To attain the Second Path, one must Kill the Self.
  • To attain the Third Path, one must Persist through Nura.
  • A Guru is alike to an Ancestor. They Understand the Light.
  • A Shishya is alike to an Ancestor. They Seek to Understand the Light.
  • An Acolyte is not alike to an Ancestor. They must Train to Seek to Understand the Light.

Ethics

The ultimate goal of the Meinong is to show the truth and guide others through the Light. They guard the Light from any forces that would use it to nefarious ends.

Worship

Many individuals from many different parts of the world come to the temples to pray to their own personal divinity or to divines from other cultures. All gods can find some kind of representation here. Rites and worship include prayer to the divines, the tribute of food and water, or lighting a candle.

Priesthood

The gurus are human representatives of the Three Divine Avatars. Each of them are seated in deep meditation within the center of each temple. They will, from time to time, awaken in order to share the secrets of the Light with their shishya.   The shishya teach the acolytes based off their understandings of the gurus teachings. Shishya wear the signifying robes of their rank and are responsible for the administration and upkeep of the temples, as well as keeping acolytes in line.   Acolytes may reside within the temples as long as they go through the proper purification and initiation rites.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Mein'ong have kept themselves apart and neutral from most of the affairs of the rest of the world and keep mostly to themselves deep within their jungles. They operate as an independent organization, protected by their difficult to traverse terrain and mystifying jungle environment.

The truth is within you and without you.

A faith focused on the energies of the mind and body, it focuses on cognition, perception, and one's sense of reality. We are the Guardians of the Light.
